Looking for an online school for B.S. degree

That is fairly often the case. :p

I’m all for higher education. Just not necessarily a fan of the importance placed on it for this career when it’s often not enough to “check the box, but only in this specific way.”
I mean, they don’t give a • about learning.

I’m paying full fare for Worldwide (you’re welcome) at the graduate level and it’s highly variable. Some professors are fantastically involved, and some are so detached I wonder if they even know they still have a job. This, of course, is the natural business reformer approach to private higher ed - adjuncts and taking student and government money, and printing dollar bills.

That said, the grad classes are all highly research driven and other than the occasional steer it doesn’t take much from them to get most of the work done.

I won’t speak for undergrad. Frankly you miss out on a lot with distance learning, but nobody around here (or sitting behind the table at whatever Air Lines) cares about pedagogy. Or learning. Check box, and proceed.

As an instructor for ERAU I get it on cost. It's what turns me off as a potential student though.

Anyone looked at ENMU?

Alex.

Western Governers University seems to work well for that quick inexpensive box check. 3k flat rate for six month term, no class schedule. All self paced and the ability to test out once you feel competent in the subject. If you’re smart and motivated you could earn the degree in as little as a year. But I’m sure it will take me longer than that! :D

I keep delaying my start on it, but will keep y’all informed on how it works once I finally get the ball rolling.

What graduate program are you pursuing? I’ve been kicking around going for a masters or MBAA with Riddle Worldwide, have you been happy with it so far?

I’m doing the HR degree... Not sure if that’s a good idea or not. Pilots and HR don’t seem to get along, from my observation anyway

That way if I lose my medical, I will be an HR representative on the interview panel telling pilots I’m just not sure if their 8,000 TT and 4,000 121 pic is enough to get the job, tell them to keep their apps up to date and plug away at the community service.... i(sarcasm tag thingermajiggy)

"Keep doing what you're doing!"

Why is it you think you didn’t get hired? Do you agree with their decision? Would you consider re-applying? Why not?

I’m not talking to your situation specifically, just what I see as reasons why they love to ask about being or becoming an LCA.

Not necessarily wrong but considering (IMO) it's not necessarily anything other than to weed out applicants I think it's kind of dumb. If they're expecting people to quit flying and go to school in person full time in or approaching their 30s, that's just delusional. So in other words "unless you had the money and actually went to college right out of high school for 4 years, we don't want you."
Well, I mean, that is exactly what they're saying. They just don't want to come out and say it directly.

Who exactly do you think they're trying to "weed out"?
