Look what I saw

Saw him out in Michigan last year! Such an awesome airplane!

Its a special kind of bird to get this kind of recognition. I can't think of something other than an old warbird that would get people to share there experience with a sighting like this.

When you have SE T-Props that go faster and burn less fuel I have to wonder where this will fit in. The TBM 850 will do 320 KTAS (20 knots faster) and will get up to FL310 (3000ft higher) at 60GPH (2 GPH less). I'm just not seeing a market when comparable SE T-props are already available.
I didn't realize the performance specs were so poor. I didn't care that much for it to look up the stats.

I still think it would sell to those looking for jet status. Look at the Eclipse and Citation Mustang.

The Eclipse and Mustang don't even belong in the same sentence. One is a nice jet, built by an established and trusted company. The other is a piss poor excuse of an airplane by a fly-by-night company.

The first starship I saw was from the cab in the SBA tower being built. That was Rob Scherer and he parked at the base of the tower.

When I was a line guy at KMSN, around '97-98 we had a Starship hangared there that was owned by Pleasant Co. It was an impressive airplane.

That Cirrus jet is friggin ugly. Looks like it fell out of a Lucky Charms box.

Had to look up Starships to find out more info and found this photo of the same ship I saw. This ship NC51 is only one of 9 still airworthy. It was used for the SpaceShip launch as a chase plane.

The owner of this Starship bought all the spares from Beech when they completely abandoned the program. He literally has a hangar full of parts and plans to keep flying his until he "runs out of serviceable parts or money".

I know there are more out there still flying but it seems that most of all the sightings of the starship come from seeing this plane, N514RS. Hats off to this owner for giving us an opportunity to see this bird.

As cool as the plane looks from the ground the pictures in the air are way cooler.
