So here I've been trying to find a way to build the necessary flight time to start working on my commercial. I decided one of the best and most fun things to do would be to do a long, multi-state cross country trip from Denver, CO to Dayton, OH during my spring break in March. The trip would consist of three legs.
First leg: Denver, CO to Salina, KS.
Second leg: Salina, KS to St. Louis, MO
Third leg: St. Louis, MO to Dayton, OH.
I would likely follow the trip in reverse order when flying back home, unless of course divertion was necessary due to a headwind or weather.
Has anyone flown a trip like this before? To any JCers that may live anywhere long this flight path, how much IFR weather does the midwest typically get during March? I've thought of perhaps waiting until summer instead because at least here in CO anyway, spring brings a lot of unstable air (The worst turbulence that I've ever encountered has been during March and April).
What do you guys think?
