logging 121 sim time

Any gouge on logging sim time in the regionals? Specifically should the sim instructor, log it in my logbook, or can I? Is it like an FTD in flight training? I am off to Sim next week for my SIC type, and I don't have a clue. My understanding is that 50 hrs of sim time can be used for aeronautical experience for an ATP. Thanks.

I personally don't know of anyone who logged it in my class. I didn't even bring my logbook to training with me. Yes the sim instructor would need to sign your logbook.

50 hours is also like...two 4 day trips. Is that really going to be the determining factor on whether or not you can upgrade to captain a few years from now?

Thanks for the answer.
PSA upgrades are projected to be pretty quick, and there are guys now who are waiting for 1500 hrs. Also, you never know what will happen in life.

No one is our class logged it... That's nearly 20 people and zero of which actually logged the time... No need really if you think about it. Before any of us are to upgrade we will have well over the time needed for our type ratings......

Paul how was ST Louie? I read some of your posts. Congrats. Would like to pick your brain if you are in Dayton next week. Or maybe I will give you a ring.

Umm.. No there's not. Right now I am THE most junior person on the list waiting to upgrade and I have WAY more then the requirements despite being hired with relatively low time. There's nobody waiting because they are short hours.

I'm not sure who told you that, but they are more then just a bit off. At our current rate of upgrade, even if we ONLY hired 500 hour guys from here on out, I think we will be just fine.

What he said. The upgrade times are coming down, but not that fast. Right now it's just over 2.5 years and it will fall to just around 20 months right before it goes back up. The people who got on here in late spring to early summer will see those times, but it will grow again once we have enough captains.

I've been teaching in the sim for about 8 months and I haven't had a single student log their sim time.

I get a lot of Level-D time doing right-seat work for CAE Simuflite. There's a lot of debate on the subject and I've spent a lot of time digging around the regs to get an answer. It appears that it is not loggable. You can feel free to put it under simulator time or an empty column if you want to keep track of it. If you get really picky your instructor needs to be a current CFI and sign your logbook in order to log it as simulator. Some simulator instructors may not even been a CFI since being at ATP and type rated in the aircraft qualifies you to teach on the aircraft. I could very well be wrong on this, if so chime in and let me know!

I didn't bring my logbook to training, but I logged the time when I got home (so obviously my instructor didn't sign it). If anyone wants to question it, I'll just show copies of my company training records which he did sign.

I never logged it. I just made a note in the comments page at the back of my logbook. ''Beech 1900 level D sim training - xx hours'', something like that just for a record so I know when I did my training and such.

In the interview end of October during the question phase. Thanks for the update.

I have a feeling who told you that, I'm often involved in the interview process, could you please PM me and let me know where you got that information. I don't feed BS to potential new hires and I hate it when people do. Don't worry, you don't even have to tell me your name. I won't let anyone know my source.

I'm guessing it was maybe Mr. Flower? But I really thought they weren't letting him anywhere near the new hires any more. Then again, it could be the dude who gets confused with a potential new contract.

Hmm. SO many people who lie to us here. Nice.
