Really? Shouldn't of been that bad. I know 2 people who owe around 200K (neither from Spartan) and are paying almost $1800 a month.

Yeah I was at an airport yesterday. Anbother instructor applying for a job said he had $200k in loans for ERAU. My jaw hit the floor. I knew it was at least $100k but now $200???

He walked away with 300 hours, and a little bitterness.

I was lucky - I didn't spend nearly as much at Spartan, but then again I only did a few ratings there when I realized how much they were taking me for, and I already had a college degree.

One of the guys I mentioned who is 200K in the hole went to ERAU. He mentioned this to me while we were on a flight from KPAO to KCNO. Good thing the autopilot was on or I would have had a very hard time keeping the plane straight & level due to shock. I never expected people to be paying that much out there. Poor people.......:(

when were you there?

06 & 07...didn't finish my degrees or anything though...got tired of how long it was taking. Actually went across the road to RFC for my CFI/II/MEI.

I'm "only" down about 95K...payments are about as much as rent and car pymts combined...ugggh...:bandit:

Man I really feel for you guys. I graduated in May from ERAU but thankfully not nearly that much in loans.

Here is the tale of the three roomates.

Roomate one, said his mom sold their house so he could pay the 200 grand tuition to go ERAU and unfortunately he never graduated and doesnt have a good relationship with his mom now.

Roomate two, took out as many credit cards and student loans possible and ended up spending the money on girls and extravagant gifts for these girls. Stopped flying because he spent all of his flight money on girls and had to work at a gas station to try to pay his credit card payments. Well he made it all the way through and decided he didn't want to take his last class so never graduated either and has 150+ in loans.

Roomate three, probably fared the best out of the three but still took out 150+ in loans. He graduated but is now working as a landscape personnel.

So out of the three roomates with 6 figure loans none of them are flying and all started as flight students.

Its all very sad, it would be one thing if they were flying or were able to use their degree they spent so much money on but not even that.

Hmmm my dads logbooks may be worth something afterall...

Nah...it is priceless to me...especially when I get to talk with him about his journeys. Some of the airports he's been to are no longer around. Truly part of the glory days.
