I would kill myself if it happened.lol just kidding. But damn, all your hours? I will probably do a few copies of my lobook. Keep one if the safe box at the bank.lol
 
Start from you last 8710. Everything after from your instructor's records, 135/121 records, rental reciepts.
 
My friend had his car broken into and his flight bag stolen. He lived in an apartment where a bunch of ATA students lived, so I'm sure whoever did it knew what was in the bag. Luckily, he had taken his logbook inside to update it. I know people that keep their logbooks in fireproof safes.

I do. Plus I use LogbookPro. Its reported on my medical. Plus my 135 records. I think I'm covered.

I never really tought about this. You spend so much money flying and all of sudden if you loose your logbook you loose all your hours. Maybe the FAA should have an online registry logbook registration where after you fly you submitt the information online and they keep it in their databases.

It's quite simple really, you just click "Add New Entry" and then fill out the required fields (duration of flight, aircraft ident, route of flight, date, ect...). It is just like writing an entry in your "real" logbook. You can choose to either make your logbook available for others to view, or you can opt to keep it private. You can also set up email notifications if you have a BFR or medical due or even if your currency is about to run out. It is definately a good idea to use some sort of back up in case something happens to your "real" paper logbook and the fireproof safe isn't a bad investment either. Just my two cents.
 
One is allowed, per the FAA, to estimate one's hours and reconstruct your logbook. I would say it will look highly suspicious during an interview if you can't back your times up with other means like employment history or maybe a letter from your CFI stating your times.
