Logbook errors

Heya everyone,

So now that I'm finally gearing up to do this whole flying thing again, I've decided to input my logbook into logshare so I can have an electronic backup, and have something to double check my numbers with. Now that I'm going through this thing, I'm finding errors. They're minor, and fairly stupid errors. Most of them are not even mine, they are ones that my instructor made or even in one case my DE for my private ride (he didn't put any landings in, same happened for my first solo flight from my instructor). With so many years gone by though, I wouldn't even know what to fill in spaces as it's been years since some of these flights happened. Anyone else have this happen to them?

Yep, I have had some basic addition errors as well as errors by my CFI filling it out time in the sim as flight time, xc time, etc...Just filling it out too fast and oops. Just put a line thorugh the errors, initial it, and make a one line correction showing the new totals. At least if someone sees that they will know you corrected the problem.

As I was going through my logbook a long while ago while transferring it to the computer I was off by about 3 hours and 3 hours instrument time and a few landings. What I did was re-log the hours in one column and in the remarks section noted what corrections I was making. You can also use negative #s if you need to. Its pretty easy to make a couple mistakes here and there, as long as you have the correction and what happened it shouldnt be a problem

John, same thing happens to me... I use logshare and my written logbook (been using it since I got the private). Usually I try to compare both after filling out a page in the written logbook and then it's usually ok. It's bad when I go three or four pages in the logbook without double checking electronic vs written.

I'm no example when it comes to correcting logbook errors though

; probably the best way is to make a note at the bottom something to the effect of 'as of this page all entries are correct', and then write what was fixed

Just enter one correcting entry.

Like.....to correct such and such date for no landings, or correct math error of .2 for x-country omission, or whatever. Not that big of a deal, it probably looks like a tornado hit it anyway (well mine does at least).
