Lol maybe for proof of the hours? Show a notary your old 8710 and get the stamp? I dunno, but would rather be safe then sorry.
Pretty sure all a Notary is doing is verifying that you are you and you are the one signing the document.
I'll have to ask a buddy of mine...he got his notary deal for his job. ...which is nice for me (free).

Notarized so it has a legal verifiable date on it rather than looking like a sheet of paper you just cooked up the night before you go to court because of your other sloppy logging practices. Also proof that it was you who signed it so you cannot claim it wasn't you who submitted that falsified document.

A Notary does not attest to the facts of whatever they are notarizing, just that the person doing so is in fact the person they claim to be.
I've notarized things that aren't even in English.

As someone else wrote, that IS exactly what notaries do. They notarize signatures. Noting that I wrote indicated otherwise.
