logable time for regional FOs

I log an average of 90hours on an average month (no training/vacation etc). Of course, being EWR based probably half of that is spent on the ground waiting......As long as I'm payed I'm perfectly happy reading the NY Post in the run up blocks of the ol' USA.

I could work alot less but rent ain't cheap in NYC.

It varies from month to month. Once you have a line where I'm at most are worth about 85 hours. If you are on reserve you will fly anywhere from 0 to 100 hours. It all depends on how bad they need people. New captains may fly a little more as they are motivated to get their turbine PIC up.

On reserve I log anywhere between 20 and 50 hours. Still get paid for 75, though.

When I finally hold a line, it'll be closer to the 80-85 mark logged. This is of course assuming there aren't any weather/taxi delays.

Different perspective... Family oriented, line holder, FO with a two kids at home, and one of them is a newborn. So...... I usually only log about 50-60 hours a month with up to 20 days off. I just had 30 days off in a row when my daughter was born due to strategic vacation bidding. I trade down and drop trips. QOL for me... for now.

Exactly what I think is a positive for the regionals. They have flexiblity. I went from 98.5 hours of pay credit with 365 hours TAFB last month to 80 hours of pay credit and 70 hours TAFB (3 days of flying) this month.

This last month I logged 60 and should credit 90. I flew ~12 hrs before the 14th (I was on IOE), so 48 was in the last 16 days. I think a normal month on reserve would be quite a bit more than 60, but I'll have a line next month that should give me around 75 logged.

FO vs. Capt shouldnt matter much. Line vs. Reserve is another story. As FO or Capt with a line I logged/log around 85 per month. More if I picked up a extra trip. Usually my monthly pay credit is higher.

Reserve really varies. I am on reserve this month and logged 55 flight hours. Earlier this summer I was on reserve a few months & it was closer to 85 - 90 hours. (We were really busy.) However you may only log 10 to 15 hours per month on reserve if things are slow.
