Living the dream part III

So I was working 28.55 today and someone hit Guard with speeeeed brrrrraaaakkkkkeeeessss
I said it EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I used the speed brakes on my last trip. And it was a few times, but I'm no Salt Lake Saint pilot. So I can't expect to be as good as them.

Plus I was flying with a probationary guy who needed an eval. And I wanted to see how he would react each time, as his reaction was directly related to his eval.

I'm not busting your bean bag here, as I'm normally VERY sarcastic. This is a dead serious question. Does it bug you when they do it during pushback vs. brake set, you start your flow, and they do theirs? Or does it just bug you that it's silent?
Would be fun with the Molasses Flaps in the BroBus.
"After start checklist... Flaps 4."
4...... click..... 12 minutes of dying whale noises
"4 set... hey, we burned past MINTO waiting on the flaps!"

What has happened to JC lately? Apparently my "Give a F..." meter needs to get repaired by maintenance. Some of you get bent out of shape at the weirdest things. And if you get bent out of shape at my comment, you're probably one of the ones I'm talking about...
Listen, my "New Posts" linky tab thing has been missing all day so I have to click, like, twice as many times to get to the pages I'm used to so yeah ....... I'm pissed. Deal with it.

I know on the Ejet we are trained to put flaps to takeoff setting on the push. However, I always say clear on the right, would you like flaps 2? I get weird looks but at least I know the captain is in the loop and I didn't just randomly throw the flaps into the wrong setting.

The after start checklist has both check it and verbalize it. Plus there's the handy takeoff config button.

It looks good on you, though...

Like wait is this really not that standardized where no one can point at the book and say you're doin it wrong? All my ass-umptions of 121 flying are shattered.

I'd prefer that it be accomplished once the brakes are set, the tug and towbar are disconnected, and the waveoff is completed, yes.

I would additionally prefer it to be verbalized.

(Of course, I do not run the shop here.)

I've always done $1 per bag. Driver gets more if he's early, takes care of us, etc. In the case of our FAs, it's 5 bags = $0

One standard 22" pilot bag = one dollar. It doesn't and shouldn't matter how that dollar is paid. Maybe unless it's a 100 pennies which is probably not that cool.
That's fine, but it's your responsibility to have singles, not the van drivers. It's would have been less classless to not tip at all.

Was just curious. We used to verbalize it in the CRJ after takeoff. Then they switched it to the ERJ way of doing things with the whole "climb sequence" bit.

Maybe, maybe not. I know if I worked for tips, you better believe I'm gonna bring a ton of $1s, $5s and a few $10s to work to be able to make change. When Joe Piloto asks if I can break a $20...damn straight I can, because I want my tip.

They work for tips, I don't. Obviously I try to plan my cash usage to ensure I have $1s; but some times it just doesn't work out and I'm gonna need change. Can't provide it...not my fault. If we're at the hotel when you can't provide it, I'll go inside and get change from the desk. If we're at the airport, I'll bum one from the FO if possible...if not, oh well, I tried. (I'll make it up to the FO for bumming tip money via getting the bag tips later in the trip or through bought food/ coffee.)

I'm not sure van drivers work for tips though. What I mean is I don't think that they make a waiter type wage where tips supplement there income. I think that it just has become customary to tip them.

The same thing goes for line guys at the fbo. It's more of a "welp, you just cleaned our capper and its 100 degrees out. We think you should be rewarded for that."

It's a moot point for me currently though. My company allows me to expense tips. So I get back whatever I tip out.
