live at an airport community

Heading out to Hacienda, I hope, before the end of the week to look around and see if anyone is out and about. Thanks for the tip. ;)

Trying to find new friends? Don't stalk around the homes too much........

Surprised you hadn't heard about it if you already hang around airpark people. It's smaller than the other airparks and located in the southwest part of town, but it's a nice quaint place.

GF is a realtor. ;) We stalk homes all the time. I wasn't real familiar with the west side prior to re-locating out here last year. I "hung out" at Stellar because I spent a lot of time working with Nazy. I looked at Hacienda on Google Maps, and see that it is quite quaint. There's another one popped up near us that is called Thunder Ridge.

I thought you're a trust-funder kiddie? Why bother working?

Stellar is annoying with their "no touch and go landings", and "no VFR practice approaches"; both of which I do there in the middle of the day, depending. When I worked there in the early 90s, the runway wasn't even lit but for VASIs and 6 runway lights on the approach end, as well as the half-assed curved approach lighting of the baseball field that led to the approach end of 17. Made coming back in at night fun as you rolled out into the abyss of the departure end of 17. Night landing on 35 was a bear for the same reason......come in high to avoid the unmarked and unseen powerlines, and drop it in.

I'm familiar with the realm of what you speak, but I am no where near what you think. I have taken a few pennies and turned them into dollars with a little help. I wish I had the coin to go drop on a P-51 on a whim because that would put me in the echelons that you speak of. I am the owner of a small 4 acre Arabian Horse breeding farm. We breed and sell Arabian Horses. I am also a full time student going to school on the GI Bill to finish my ratings. Thought we'd talked about this.

Stellar got an injection of cash from Ron Pratte. That is how Stellar became Stellar. The night landing going to 35 must have had some real pucker factor to it.

You had mentioned "trust fund baby" before, hence where I got it from.

I still remember when Stellar was actually in the middle of nowhere. The runway is full lit now, I believe, and doesn't have the same obstruction. But back 20+ years ago, night ops back into the place each night from my daily route, was dicey.

What did I tell you about taking me seriously? Silly Mike. FourBlade is my baby. We also have a consignment side of the business, and the real estate that my gf does on top of those. And I'm in school. And that's tough with everything that we've got going on.

The runway is lit. There's a IAP. Two parallel taxiways, and Ron Pratte's hanger which is big enough to house a 737. Instead, he's got the Race 57 Super Corsair, a Trimotor, a Mustang, the most unbelievable auto collection you've ever seen, and a ton of helos that he plays with.

Oh I read your posts with a huge grain of salt anyway. I just don't always know which part is BS and which isn't, so I do the safe thing and just assume all of it is until I know different. :)

Another of your high-falutin' crowd you hang out with? That VOR-A has been there forever and it's good to practice with, regardless of what kind of BS NOTAM they try to put out about no practice approaches.

I like keeping you on your toes. I actually DID NOT fly through a cloud. THAT was BS. Ok, it wasn't. I did.
I don't spend time with Ron. I like spending time around guys who actually build and fly airplanes. ;) I was invited to go with the AF guys who came out for Nazy's memorial. It was one of the most memorable experiences of my life.

The VOR approach isn't published anymore, I don't think. There's a GPS approach that is.

I already know whats what with that. It's no matter. You're new, dumb and green when it comes to piloting and have alot to learn with aviation, but you have alot of time to do it too. Just don't screw up too bad to where it's terminal. And try to listen and learn.

I believe the approach there is still an overlay.

Thanks. It's appreciated.

The VOR-A also doubles as a GPS approach. Found it on Airnav.

Yes.....an overlay, like I said. VOR or GPS A. GPS not being standalone.

If you know what you did, why didn't you own up? Or even on here?

We'll cover that question over PM, or a root beer. Not out here, though. I'm sure you understand.

I understand that. My only point is, do the right things at the right time. It'll keep you safe in any number of ways and it will speak to positive character. Chalk it up as a lesson learned, as there are already too many ways to attract negative attention on oneself in this business. No need to add to them. :D
