Little Bugger won't eat

I'm afraid I'm going to lose another one. He's only 6, very much not fair.

So sorry. Take him to the vet first thing in the morning. But if this is something you saw coming its best to do what is best for pet out of love. Sending good thoughts your way

He just ate some steak. First thing down his gullet in two days. My wife and I cheered like parents at a high school football game. Forgot to mention we've spent $4000 in the last couple of weeks trying to find the cure to what ails him.

My dogs have always eaten grilled chicken when they refuse to eat anything else. Hope he feels better. :(
Tried grilled and baked chicken, little bugger would have none of it. But he just ate more steak so we will continue with that. Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead. Thanks to all.

So sorry to hear this. We just lost our dog at 11 years old and she went through the same thing. She wouldn't eat her dog food in the beginning. We started feeding her steak and table food and she ate that for about a month. Then she quit eating the steak and finally approached her final days and we had to put her to sleep. They said it was most likely liver cancer, so you might explore that area. I hope for the best with him.

Could it be food allergies? A vet recently told me commercial animal food sold in grocery stores causes a lot of problems. Maybe find a (truly) natural dog food producer? (The vet said Blue Buffalo isn't a good one, ftr.)

I've never heard another vet say that Blue Buffalo isn't top notch food, and since my dog has had such misfortune, I've talked to a hell of a lot of vets, including some of the top in the country at the University of Tennessee where my dog had to have surgery. They've all recommended Blue Buffalo Wilderness as one of the best foods you can get. The regular Blue Buffalo isn't the best, but it's still a lot better than all of the supermarket dog food out there.

I've been feeding the "mature" blend to my cats and I agree on the quality. Both cats (one of whom prefers lettuce to turkey - I'm not kidding) seem to like it.

Natural Balance is the other one that I like to feed them, also recommended by vet. (Green Pea and Duck version.) Petco carries both brands. Pet Smart does NOT carry Natural Balance.

He has a genetic kidney disorder. The three different vets we've taken him to all seem to agree that without dialysis we probably have a month to go. The dialysis would lower his quality of life to below what we're ok with and would be prohibitively expensive. Last night he didn't eat his steak, today he ate some cooked hamburger, we'll continue trying to find things that he seems to like, even if we have to blend it and give it to him with a big syringe, and we will continue giving him IVs everyday as long as he seems comfortable. His condition only seems to be causing a lack of appetite and fatigue but no pain at all. Sad to see a dog this young having these issues.

The blue buffalo made my Beagle scratch himself nearly raw. He's been in good health with the purina salmon, used to do the chix and rice.

That's terrible to hear. My dog is my best friend. Hell, when I'm on the road, I miss the fur ball almost as much as my wife, almost.
