Lightroom 3 or Photoshop CS5?

I am an amateur photographer, but want something that allows me to process RAW format, and also has many many predefined effects for photo finishing. Whats your suggestion?

LR3 hands down. Much faster and easier to use than CS5. I have both and use CS3 to work with masks, layers, and other finer details. However for 75% of my photos I can get by with LR3.

There are tons of presets available for free for Lightroom as well, so you can grab those and tweak them as you need. Plus if you shoot a ton of photos, keywording, editing, publishing and sorting is a snap in Lightroom.

Whatever torrent you find first?

Seriously though, few hobbyists are going to get their money's worth out of cs5. Lr is fine for the majority of work, and much less cashola. If money isn't a factor, I believe adobe's website has a bundle price for both.

Adobe Photoshop Lightroom is designed to complement, not replace the wider array of tools in Photoshop CS3, Photoshop Lightroom is a workflow-based application with a robust yet simplified and efficient workspace.

The best photo software is whatever your most comfortable using... You can do a lot of enhancement with software costing $49.00 easier then you could with $500 software and at the same time there are thing you can't do with the $49.00 software, that's very easy to accomplish with photoshop...

Just keep in mind that professionals will use more than one software program to achieve the desired effect...

The best thing you can do is download the trial version of programs that meet your photo enhancement requirements. Play around with them for 30 days and then purchase whatever best fits your needs. This will save you a lot of money...

Here's a couple links to help you determine might work best for you...
