LIGHT CHOP

I mean more heat.

I was at a conference last week of airports from the Midwest where I attended a session put on by the NOAA meteorologists that provide services to Kansas City Center and airports within the area. Although nobody asked about climate change, there were a couple questions about the effects of windmills on weather (go figure).

I spoke with one of the presenters afterwards and asked if they were seeing systematic changes in weather patterns due to warming trends. Short story - yes. One of their concerns is that it will lead to higher echo tops that will lead to more re-routing in the future.

Not to mention higher atmospheric temps lead to lower aircraft performance, forcing aircraft to operate at lower altitudes and in more storm systems.

We can normally get up to 41 eventually in the 330, but I've been seeing some ISA+12 to +14 temps the last few months that make that pretty damn hard to do.
We can go straight to FL430 at every weight/temp combination I've seen so far, and almost all of the time FL450 is doable. Been to FL470 numerous times, but that usually involves either ISA not-too-high and/or burning some fuel (or a light payload to start with).

Edit to add: if I need FL470 to top weather I'm going around it anyway. FL450 to go straight over weather topping in the upper 30's is one thing, FL470 for weather going into the 40's...naw, not playing that game. 470 is when we're looking for smoother rides...

Enjoy all of those cosmic rays up there with the space station, gramps. I'm probably infertile due to a couple of years balling around at 470 in the Falcon. That or the Syphilis. I guess maybe both, hard to tell.

If I do manage to inseminate, the kid will probably have superpowers, so it's a risk/reward thing I guess.

Although I suppose they could be used for Evil.

Entirely boils down to your definition of superpowers. Opposable thumbs have already accomplished immeasurable damage - not least amongst them rendering natural insemination obsolete.

Imagine the Concorde guys…:D

Retro pay, or it is a no vote. I didn't originally get why people were willing to die for it, but I get it now.

It should depend very much on the numbers and what other improvements you get.

TVM is a real thing. Doesn't always pencil out that way but sometimes, especially when there are work rule or QOL improvements, it does.
