I'll post a few from my time in the Navy....

Refueling the B-1's out of DG heading back to DG after being "in country". This is 16 hours into a 20 hr mission. These were shot over the Arabian Sea.

You may have heard about this little incident....

This was shot with her almost fixed, and airworthy. The ground checks were almost completed. The Det had long since left, so 4 lucky guys got to come back to DG to test her, and fly her. I have pics of the first flight somewhere.... See if I can't dig them up.

Awesome pictures! Thanks for sharing.

Saw a B-1 this weekend at the Mcguire air show, it was impressive. It was gloriously loud and seeing 4 engines in afterburner was awesome.

Seeing those 4 burners in full effect surrounded by a tropical moon, and a tropical night is a sight you would NEVER forget.... I tried so many times to shoot it, but it just looks like 4 oranges surrounded by black.

That would be hard to forget, yeah. Sounds beautiful.

My friend who worked on the Bone's electrical system would be surprised to know they can fly 20-hours without breaking.

I would frequently go to work, depart a flight, work 8 hours, go play/sleep, and return to land the flight I departed on the previous shift. I would ask, "Is this THE SAME (C/S) that departed yesterday?" I stopped asking after a couple of times.

We didn't hear the part about what was broken when they came back. But those maintainers did a great job of keeping the Det flying.

Those are awesome pictures of an awesome plane.

There's a video out there where the bone takes off out of the factory. The sound of the afterburners sets off multiple car alarms on the way out.

They flew one into the MQY airshow last weekend! SWEET airplane, especially on a low pass in afterburner

funny seeing these pics, at my job (UH-60 RESET Mechanic) they just posted a picture of this bird with I assume the pilots standing in front of it gear up.

I just watched a "Great Planes" episode on the SR-71, and the host said at the end that it is regarded as possibly the best airplane ever built. It is just a beautiful airplane.

These pictures convinced me the B-1 is not too far behind; what a great looking bird!

Guys I fly with who used to be BONE drivers say things like, "the ECS system is so complicated that even the engineers can't explain it."
