LIDO Charts?

How soon are you guys (9E) getting the EFBs?

Ahhh hahaha hahahaaaa. Wait, wait. HAHHAHAHAHAAAAA HAHAHAHAAAAAA. :D

When are we getting them?

[My opinion]:

NEVER!

Don't know if it's true, but rumored that the switch from Jepp to LIDO will save our airline $15,000 per month. I doubt we'll ever get EFBs, they cost too much. Given past actions of Pinnacle mangement, I highly doubt they would want to spend money on getting EFBs.

if say I was to try these charts out, where would one get them?

i assume these are airline only charts, and not for the public?

The plane moves ... that's in the question... if the plane moves, it will fly. (It's a test of reading comprehension, not physics or aerodynamics.)

OOoops, wrong thread. ;)

Lufthansa Systems is, naturally, a for-profit corporation. I'm sure they'll sell to anyone with enough money, but they're primarily geared towards airlines.

Is there something specific you'd like to look at?

How about a High-Altitude chart? :) (Those are too big to attach, but there's YouSendIt.)

I wanted to look at the airports near me, KOPF R9L ILS, KFXE R8 ILS and MIAMI.NINE dept would be nice to look at :)

if you can show me those, i'd really appreciate it :D

The corporate goons need to look at the long term and not just startup cost. Which I am sure they have, but our program has been stalled for years with the same kind of on/off again crap. Good luck!

EFBs are much cheaper (and easier and more reliable) than paper charts..

Yes, but you have to understand that the Pinnacle Board of Directors has a long-standing policy in place to not spend any money that won't be recovered in less than a year. It takes about 3 years to recover your costs from starting an EFB program with Pinnacle's fleet size, so hell will freeze over before Pinnacle gets EFB. The checkairmen at Pinnacle aren't too happy about LIDO, so the company has been spreading the EFB BS to placate them.

We don't go into either Opa Locka or Fort Lauderdale Executive, but I can show you some stuff in the neighborhood. Here's the Airport Facilities Charts (AFCs) for Fort Lauderdale Hollywood Int'l, a couple of approaches for FLL, the AFC for Miami Int'l, and the Miami Nine Deptarture out of MIA. Hope that helps.

For those airlines that have gone over to LIDO charts, does the company provide a differences course to train you on the LIDO charts? Or is it more like, here it is, your job is to learn it?

They do seem easier to use, was just wondering if they provide training to learn the differences.

That will be at the discretion of the carrier, most likely. Mine provided online training, and some printed training aids.

I never received training for Jeppesen products, but I was expected to be proficient.

The company provides a powerpoint type program provided by Lufthansa and a poorly written, 10 question quiz that you don't know if you passed or failed until a week later. It's actually kinda laughable. The powerpoint is pretty cool, though. The best is when you intentionally pick a wrong answer. For example, on the question worded something like "which of the following charts would color coded topography be useful for" the taxi and parking charts are options. Pick them for the hell of it, and a British accented voice says "You're on the ground. The mountains can't hurt you."

As for getting them for GA, it's pretty useless. Anything less than Category C is omitted since the charts are designed for air carriers. In fact, one of the selling points Lufthansa uses is that anything that would not be for air carrier use is omitted from the chart to reduce clutter.

I have a strong feeling that if our 'corporate sponsor' uses LIDO charts, I will be using LIDO charts shortly!

Yes on circling approaches.

Anywho not gonna matter, the Beeches are on there way out within 8-10 months!
