License in the Mail

Took my commercial single in mid December...have yet to see any plastic. Thought it was a bit much, until I read some of the above posts :ooh:

Guys, i had my ATP Xride done in november 4th, 2013. Due to internet connection issues, i got a handwritten temp certificate. Do you have any idea on how long should i wait until i get the plastic licence itself? Those 120 days are about to expire.

Did anyone here took a checkride in the same day as i did? Have you got your definitive certificate yet?

I would contact the FSDO if you are within a few weeks of your temp expiring, so they can either issue a new one, or find out what the hold up is.

FSDO is probably going to have you call Oklahoma City, so just call the Airman Certification Branch. Generally someone will actually answer the phone once you get through the menu (or have the FSDO give you their direct dial local number like I did :) )

If needed, they can email you another temporary (good for 60 days). Print it off and carry it with you.
They were so backed up 2 summers ago we had tons of guys needing new temporary certificates. I called the direct line and had an answer within 15 minutes as to the status of my permanent certificate and when I should expect to receive it. Told me if I didn't have it within "x" days to call them back and they would issue a new one.

have to visit the FSDO to get a new temp.

Thanks everyone for taking your time to post a reply!

The FAA airmen services page mentions, as of today, that they are currently working on temporary certificates issued on december 1st. As i mentioned, my temporary certificate was issued november 4th. The point is, when i log on to online airmen services, it doesn't show the ATP yet (see attached file). So i'm worried not only about getting the permanent certificate, but, more that that, if the Airmen Certification Branch has any information that i took the checkride, that i have a temporary ATP and etc. Should i be worried?

Again, thanks for your responses, and thanks in advance for any insight you can provide on this matter!

Did you keep copies of the 8710 and temp? Would you be able to reconstruct your file if need be?

Pilotmec, thanks for your reply!

I feel really stupid by not having a copy of the 8710 after the checkride. I mean, i can easily reconstruct the first page of the form, but i don't have the DPE records on the second page. I have a copy of my written test report and the temporary certificate. If unable to get all the info back, from your previous experience, should i look for a lawyer to sort this out?

Thanks again!

Wondering, how long did it take some of you guys to get your License from the FAA in the mail after doing a checkride? Asking because I did mine Nov 1st and still it has not arrived.
I did my type ride in September. Still no permanent. I have had 2 emergency extensions now. There were a lot of problems with my paperwork. I did my type ride with a fed. Go figure.

You have to visit the FSDO to get a new temp.

I was told that was only the case if your temp had expired and I had to do that once.

I know from other posts you work(ed) at the FSDO, but unless it has changed in the last year, the "email you a new temp" info came straight from the Airman Certification Branch in Oklahoma City. Myself and many others were told by the FSDO to deal directly with Oklahoma City in regards to these matters.

No, the examiner should have copies but some don't keep copies. What you have, front page and temp cert, you can reconstruct if needed. Hopefully you won't need to. I took a check ride December 2 and have not received my license yet.

I've never heard of that but maybe that's the case. You can get an email for lost/stolen certificates so maybe they will a temp also.

Took my ATP/Type ride the end of September. IACRA was FUBAR that day. Had to do an old fashioned hand typed 8710.... I still haven't received my permanent certificate. On my first extension for may temp and it was like needing an act of congress to get it done. POI, Chief Pilot, the check airman all had to get involved and I still don't show the ATP/Type in the FAA database.. For me its been a disaster..

Same here. Luckily, our POI (who I did the checkride with) was able to use some FAA kung fu to issue an emergency temporary, good for one month. Of course, that time passed and he had to send another one. Did you get hit by the 50 hours in class BS?

Mojo and JetDoc, sorry about that, guys. Hope everything works out for you! I'm trying to contact the DPE (why don't they put an e-mail address on the FSDO website?!?), i'll keep you posted. What truly frustrates me is that my hands are tied. It doesn't matter all the effort you've put in the process, and it doesn't matter you did everything right, you can still mess you life cause of someone who did not perform his job right. I'll try to get that extension. Please keep me posted of how you sorted this out.

Thanks everyone who tried to help!
