Letting my CFI expire

I think I have made up my mind to allow my CFI to expire at the end of August. That said I thought I would run my thoughts by the forum; perhaps I am not thinking clearly on this.

I know all of the perks to maintaining a CFI, but given my position in life it seems to be a wasted effort maintaining it. Sound thinking?

You spent a lot of time, mental energy and effort getting the ticket, much more than it costs to do the on-line renewal. And you want to toss it?

Go on line and complete the Gleim or the American Fliers and keep the ticket. You will be only a few months away and look back and see it was foolish to have spent the money and effort just to let it lapse.

IF something comes up, you still have the ticket and BAM.. you're in. Without the ticket, your options become severely limited.
