Let's take bets. Who will Blue merge with?

Dave was on Bloomberg so much, I have to wonder if they had a deal with us. :)

Robin and the rest of the management team have been trying (and doing well) to explain that it's more than just "adding bag fees" and "eliminating legroom." It's been a pretty decent media frenzy over it. A lot of the sources I was ranting about a week ago jumping the gun and complaining have already started on the "Well, maybe we should wait and see how this is gonna look" road. Robin sent out an e-mail to crewmembers laying it out as well. Basically, the make or break is gonna be the pricing, which they can't reveal this early due to issues that are WAY above my pay grade. He keeps stressing that our customers are gonna like the fare families when they see how it works, so we'll see.

If you look at what they actually announced, it's more like they're adding a separate, potentially cheaper fare that doesn't include a checked bag rather than starting to add fees. The middle fare is essentially what we have now anyway, and the upper fare is probably the same as our current refundable fare. Until the actual pricing is out, it's all just speculation.

I expect to see JetBlue to do even better with the increased leg room and checked baggage fees. You guys still made a record profit last quarter (I believe) even without these new implementations. Pax will barely notice a difference with the JetBlue product other than the bag fees witch is industry standard right now other than one airline.

According to the research (which we research things TO DEATH around here), the new seats get much higher customer satisfaction marks than the old ones. Apparently, no one notices the reduced seat pitch unless you point it out to them. Honestly, I think we would have been better served to say "We're re-aligning our A320 cabins to match our existing A321 cabins, which will allow us to add another 15 seats." Then again, I'm not in marketing or speaking to investors, so what do I know?

Another article I read was talking about how much less of a profit in total we pulled in compared to Delta. While I can't argue that Delta is kicking ass (15.8% compared to our 7.7%), it's kinda apples to oranges to compare a global airline to a domestic/Caribbean focused airline. In 2013, we had 82% fewer ASM compared to Delta. That's like comparing sales of a mom and pop hardware store with locations in a tri-state area to ACE Hardware or something. With the new changes, I'm guessing our percentage will head more towards the 8.5-9% margin area.

I totally agree! ...yeah that delta profit margin of around 16 % is OK I guess....compared to our 21.8% ;) Seriously though Delta is cashing in no doubt about it. Hopefully we all do well going forward.

Whoever it was, came on to one of the financial channels and was doing Q&A about the new bag fees and basically saying the ticket pricing structure is proprietary. It seemed like a lot of effort for just adding bag fees. The fact that he was on a financial channel kinda hit me as purposeful. Reminded me of those report conference calls.

Spirit's Baldanza is on CNBC almost weekly. I wouldn't read too much into it.

My rectum is still bleeding from when they raped me of my seniority. Be careful what you wish for.

Wah! [emoji46][emoji24]. Poor guy who has been in the business about twenty minutes and never been furloughed had his cheese moved. Welcome to the airline industry newbie. Maybe Santa will bring you a helmet Christmas morning.

;-)

Love ya ATN. Hope you had a good thanksgiving my friend.
