Lessons learned

I was there for a short time, before I got tired of getting killed everyday. I was from April 08-September 08. I also spent most of my time over a Christiansen Aviation, playing around with their Duchess, since Yuri wouldn't let me touch his.

Oh I was long gone by that time. I was there August 07-Feb 08. And yeah I'm sure 250SU nearly killed you... it is after all a Christiansen plane! I've had a few buddies nearly die in Bill's Duchesses. One guy was taking a duchess back out to Phoenix and right after he cleared the golf course off of 19R the left engine blew a head and all of the oil caught fire. He shut it down and brought it back in. Bill airlined him home :) Another friend had both engines surging yawing the plane back and forth. He didn't know which one was the offender for the better part of ten minutes.

I HATE THAT PLANE:banghead::banghead::banghead:

Did you put that queen sticker on it?
Wasn't me. I flew it in 2000 at the SWO campus. It was a fairly nice plane back then. I have heard from an instructor at RVS that it is in terrible shape, and he won't fly it.

At least he was nice enough not to charge for 2 hours worth of multi time because of all the airplane problems. Christiansen needs to buy some new airplanes his Cessna and duchess are going to crap.

Sure it wasn't you. I'm keeping an eye on you.:) The duchess is up for lease and they replaced it with one of Riverside flight school duchess.

If by "keep your wits about you" you mean "look out the window", I agree. And if you don't drop the camera when it happens, it's just not that big of a deal.

Have we met? If so you really should credit me for the quote:laff:

My favorite is
Tower: 25OSU turn crosswind.
Me: Um, I'm on final?
Tower: Oh, who is on upwind? 17RR is that you?

haha, I dont know how many times that happened to me at RVS

I had a few close calls in the Casa Grande AZ Area. Busiest uncontrolled airport that I know of.

We've probably passed by each other in the Jet center. I fly the AS King Airs and Beechjet.

We must have. But you are not Scott or Jeremy. I fly the PC-12 77SD our of Christiansen. Moving into an office upstairs next week. I'm Doug BTW.

Most important thing you'll ever know about flying airplanes.

Oh yeah, I forgot the charter department is over by rwy 13.

He was supposed to let me fly his Barron, but he went and got married and I left shortly after.

This was a great memories thread for me. Thanks! :D I did all of my training at RVS. It seemed the near misses were just common place and you learned to anticipate and expect it so much that it just became second nature to think that the guy on the parallel was trying to kill you. The rookie ATC trainees made it very interesting as well. On my first solo way back in the day I was landing on 1L. Tower said they'd call the base. Well, finally after about 2/3's the way to Okmulgee I decided to ask if I could come back.....after a few moments of silence, they agreed. :D

You know there have been so many folks on here with Tulsa ties we should try to set up a RVS M & G sometime this summer. Who's Game?
