LAX parking lot is employees home away from home

AC, it's hot out there how does one say cool in the summer and warm during the winter? Hopefully not by using teh AC/heat in the car.

Do these people have some sort of portable AC/heat unit?

A friend of mine who flies for JetBlue and commutes to LGB lives on his sailboat in the harbor. Better than an RV, I think.

I lived in the back of my truck and the crew lounge for six months while based in Burbank for Ameriflight.

On saturday I saw the cops harassing some people who were camping on the side of the imperial highway just south of 25L and I did pause for a moment and think to myself, "I wonder who they fly for?"

Back when Westair did the UAX flying out of SFO, a ton of the SFO based guys lived in a colony of motor homes in the employee lots, they did a news story about it in the late 90s before Skywest took over. Guess it was pretty tough for the jetstream drivers to find a place to stay out here.

I was in the dentist chair today when this story "broke" on Fox. It's hard to laugh when you're in that situation. I say "laugh" because I was certain that the LAX-trailer-pads had been disbanded a couple of years ago after a somewhat large prostitution ring was busted there.

FWIW, aside for the lack of hook ups, I think it was a great idea. Does a ramper make the rounds weekly to service the lavs?

Only after calling ops at least 3 times and threatening to delay the flight if your lav isn't serviced...:bandit:
