Latest Eagle AIP rejected

God that's so foreign for me to think about but I suppose there's a percentage that do believe that's their future. Regional's all the way baby!

I would say that's a good 35% of the pilot group. The percentage at Horizon and Envoy if they had no flow are probably similar.

Even Mesaba hadthe flow and that was about 20% of the group tops. That number has gone down due to - I swear to God age 65 retirements- but also the crap, or should I say Pinnacle, compensation package. ASA had it good but I always thought it was an age thing not a pay or culture thing that made guys go career regional.

Bleh, Im just glad im still youngish and can have a 30+ year career at some legacy. Worse case five more at a Spirit and almost thirty at a legacy.

ALPA representing regional and mainline pilots is a direct conflict of interest.

Because of the way ALPA is structured, there is no conflict. A conflict would only exist if the international had control over bargaining or the purse strings, which isn't the case. The money is divided up automatically without anyone being able to favor one group or another, and bargaining is controlled at the local level by each pilot group. No one can show me where a conflict exists under such a setup.

The point Train was making, I think, is that political ideology, which trade unionism often dissolves into is always a dangerous path to tred.

It seemed to me that the Train was basically eschewing the idea of unity, and embracing a concept of self-interest that borders on Ayn Rand-style "objectivism." That's still an ideology, just a different sort.

Unfortunately Spirit is not looking to hire people who want to jump ship anymore. The only people they are hiring now with ~5 year employment prospects are 50+ year olds from Airborne and others with serious time to upgrade quickly to captain. So, they have an interview process that weeds out those who are younger that want a quick stepping stone. But best of luck to you!

How do you weed out someone who wants to jump ship? All they have to say is, "Ive always wanted to work at spirit airline".

Jeesh really? They've been promising our FO's at our airline (Endeavor) that they can't wait to get them on, that those young FO's are exactly what they need, etc etc etc, and hiring them in droves. That may have stopped recently but they've taken a vacuum to this place.

So you're saying if you wanted to work at spirit, the best path would be to upgrade, get 500 hours, then bid FO...Got it!

Dunno. They are interviewing: applicants who meet qualifications; those with very serious internal recommendations; and applicants who attend job fairs (where resumes are screened for minimum qualifications that, for non-military, includes 500 PIC turbine.

With the money they rake in, that may be the new model. Do only what makes money... screw the rest.
With the rapid upgrade on an Airbus they and the insurance carriers are looking for a level of experience. I don't work there; I am just married to someone who does.

I was referring to their profits and margins. They've done very well and stay in the green, that may be the future going forward, rather than giant networks.

Got it! Then start networking to be in the serious internal recommendation ranks!
