Landmark IAH

It's stunning to me that Landmark and Signature continue to exist when there are places like Atlantic. Not that Atlantic is by any means perfect, but the worst Atlantic experience I've had was roughly on par with the best Signature. In the case of Signature, their unfortunate survival is obviously because they have managed to become The Only Game In Town in a lot of places and thus hold operators hostage to their insane ramp fees and minimum fuel purchases. But in the case of Landmark it is a total puzzlement. Someone should do a study on this important question so we can put a stake through the heart of whoever runs them and put an end to their tyranny of Suck.

I've been doing the FBO thing for a little over 5 years now. Haven't had a good experience yet.

I know you said that Atlantic also isn't the best, but the above statement made me laugh. All those places can be hit or miss depending on the location.

Landmark at IAH is nothing special in my experience. My favorite as a pilot is still Meridian TEB. Nothing like knocking out some movies and then a nap while on standby, and everyone there is extremely professional and courteous. However one of my best experiences in the past year was Wilson Air in CHA. The staff couldn't be any friendlier, the facility was beautiful and the charges/fuel weren't outrageous like Atlantic\Sig\Landmark. It was nice to walk into an FBO and have the girl behind the desk say "We saw you on the flight tracker, so I baked you guys some cookies!" :D

Wilson Air Center is one of the better FBO's I have ever been to. Granted, I only visited the CHA location, but I hear that they are expanding, which would be a welcome addition to some airports.

Man, I remember back in the day when all it took for you to thumbs-up an FBO was some stale popcorn and a place to sleep where no one would wake you up after mistaking you for a line guy. Now look at you all hoity-toity "the coffee wasn't hot enough, didn't have newspapers, the copy of Rich Bastard Weekly in the bathroom is outdated, blah blah blah". You've gone soft in your old age.

High speed Internet, flat screen with cable, and a recliner that isn't covered with cat hair. I don't ask for much.

Banyan at FXE. Otherwise Atlantic is usually a good bet. The Atlantic in RNO is top notch! I'd stay away from the one in Eugene, OR though.
Also the Denver Jet Center in APA and the SLC Jet center at SLC were always exceptionally good to me.... even in pistons.
I have to imagine if a place treats a piston driver right, the oil burners are handled at least as well.

Got to have a current copy of Rich Bastard Weekly!

Jet Center in SLC is kaput. Milli-air bought em out.

They are usually miserable, and if the only FBO on the field, near extortion.

I can see that. I loved my job but they work us so hard that people became miserable.

Landmark at IAH survives solely because of the co located repair facility. Signature at IAH isn't much nicer but Landmark is a total dump.

I have noticed a bit of hate for Signature. What is it all about?

$700ish "handling fee" to drop my boss off at BWI to visit his dying father at Johns Hopkins, and no mercy from the GM when we did it 3 or 4 times during the week. The "handling" consisted of the line guy putting chocks under the nose wheel, and nothing else.

At MIA, we were told it would be $250 to tow us from the CBP ramp to the Signature ramp, only to end up paying $8/gallon for gas and the ungodly parking and handling fees.
