Landing

My comment is Great Job!

Nothing really to critique here, just wait to retract flaps until clear of the runway would be my only opinion.

You're more than capable to clean up on the runway. Once you get further into commercial aviation you'll be expected to reduce flaps immediately upon landing to reduce any lift generated by a gust, which will send you flying.

Great job otherwise.

I think there may a couple schools of thought on this, but in an RG aircraft I would have to say that cleaning up on the runway will get you closer to a gear up situation. There have been several cases that I know of people having been in a hurry to pull flaps up after landing and inadvertently chosen the nice inviting round handle instead.:insane:

@splitzkreen- Very nice video. Good job on the landing!

I am in commercial aviation, and have been told to NEVER clean up on the runway unless absolutely necessary. It's just not worth being distracted, like getting a radio call, after an inst. app to minimums, with a 20kt x-wind, flying in the soup the whole way and accidentally grabbing the wrong lever while doing what you can to keep centerline and finding the props making a strange sound as the come to a sudden halt. Hence the comment of "not a big deal in a warrior." Now get into an aircraft that is SPIFR, with a high workload, and see how easy it is to make mistakes.

Curious to. What is your definition of "commercial aviation?" Maybe we have a different view.:dunno:

commercial aviation ie part 135 and 121.

Not flight school. The real world isn't the same as what your taught in flight school.

Hmmm.... I still disagree with your post...

We're not supposed to touch the flaps until clear of the hold short line (and preferably if any runways to cross are close, past those)

An excerpt from our manual states:

"This checklist is to be called for by the Captain and accomplished by the First Officer when clear of all active runways."

Same. Don't do anything until clear of the runway. Part 135/91 turbojets here.
