Lame!

Oh heck, Max was probably calling "America West" "USAirways" purchase date +1 and saying "Ahem, that's a BOEING MD-11 now!"

:sarcasm:

I don't know much about engines or anything like that. But I do know that a Twin Commander sounds ten times louder than a King Air.....

It's because Garrett doesn't know how to build a freaking engine.

And there some some King Air's with Garrett's on them.

You know that's very true maing, but I hear that they're so fuel efficient because Garrett recommends just shutting them down in feather these days.

For not knowing how to build an engine, they sure made it fuel efficient! A King Air/99 will burn more gas than a Metro and take longer to get there...

:yeahthat:

From a pilot's perspective, they aren't a bad engine (mechanics probably think otherwise). I'll take them any day. My "issue" had absolutely nothing to do with the quality of the engine. Stuff happens, that's all.

Give him some credit, there was probably a cloud somewhere around utah which means that he was getting royaly raped by ATC and some skywest pilots were pointing and laughing. So to get even with them he decided to shut one down to get priority and be able to beat them in. :banghead: :yar:

Oh and dude, you know I give you mad props but your never happy, last week it was wah, i'm sitting on the couch with this great schedule and I have the entire day to do what I want, and now it's wah it's cold and i'm flying.... Make up your mind before I bid in there and put you down to something less pleasant. :nana2:

I beat everyone in. They were landing north, but cleared me straight in to land south. Probably the first time ever SLC App. hasn't found some way to screw me over. Maybe I should do it more often! Naaahhh... too much paperwork.

Oh, and by the way B, this thread is old. It somehow just got bumped to the top. Although it has been quite crappy in Montana the last couple of days.

Hey leave me alone, some of us who work don't have time to keep track of the minute by minute plays going on here, this is the best I could do with the brain that I have. :insane:

Yeah, come to PDX... Take an outstation... I have an offer you can't refuse...

That guy had it easy. We had a 99 lose an engine a few weeks ago at about 4,000' on his climb. The high pressure fuel pump took a crap and the damned thing was feathered before he even knew what had happened.

I think that's our second PT-6 failure in like 500,000 hours of operation, and they were both high pressure fuel pumps going out on us.

I thought they were supposed to be about a million hours before a gauranteed failure?

You up in Portland, sp? How's the base up there? I'm thinking about putting a bid in sometime.

If you want an outstation...go for it. You won't have enough senoirity to just walk into a 99. You'll be nothing but a pimple on the seniority list up there.:)

They're upgrading guys in the 99 in 6 months out there, bro. We had a few of them roll through the last class.

You might be able to get a Chieftain/Be-99 reserve slot in PDX, but beyond that, the seniority list is pretty stagnant. I'm not even sure I could hold a Be-99 run up there. Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoyed my time in PDX, but if you want turbine time, you're going to get more flying short(er) runs every day out of SLC than sitting third reserve in PDX.

I would say being a senior pilot at a junior base is better than vice versa, and I've been both. :insane:

I'd recommend doing some TDY before making your final decision. That way you get to deal with some of the "special" people at a couple particular bases, while keeping in mind ops and management in SLC are among the best in the system. ;)

Oh, and I would also recommend NOT taking spbrian up on his "offer you can't refuse." :yup:

Holding a crappy 99 line that has it's required rest in the layover with a 6 day week schedule in PDX is coming up on almost 2 years seniority, and you will be on that run for awhile, guaranteed.

Don't listen to ESF, the overwhelming religion in SLC has done something to the food that makes it quite tasty and somewhat of a brain washing situation. Of course, to get brain washed you would have to be sober long enough :bandit: .

Oh, and I would also recommend NOT taking spbrian up on his "offer you can't refuse." :yup:

Once again, the food is talking, ESF what have I told you, this flying thing is getting in the way of your hobby, spend more time in bars man. Jtrain, have I got an offer you can't refuse. How would you like to fly a metro!:nana2:

Crap! I didn't realize that upgrade was THAT long.

But tell Ben S. (Chieftain driver) that Herreshoff says what's up. I was his room mate during indoc.

Crap! I didn't realize that upgrade was THAT long.

Oh, it's not that long. Like you said, you could get trained in the 99 in as little as six months maybe. :)

But see, management up in Portland likes to have 3 reserves sitting around on 8 hour shifts whether there are airplanes for them to fly or not. So whether you ever fly the thing is a whole other story!

Oh you would fly a 99, we have lots of outstations that need filling. But one day when some poor pitiful soul takes them then it's to the above scenario. But a nice schedule in a 99 is honestly only about 3-4 years away, a 1900 or metro 6-10. But of course there's always an outstation, once again I got a gem here, shiny in mint condition only slightly used, make me an offer.:bandit:
