The TriStar is the best look jetliner ever built...

I was very sad the day that Delta retired the last one, thankfully I was lucky enough to be there to see it on it's last day.

One of my best aviation memories ever was flying from LAX to HNL and stopping in Maui on a L-1011. I went up to the cockpit and the flight crew let me hang out during the turn, even letting me sit in the CA's seat. Captain even took my photo. I think that was '97 and I was 17 at the time.

Prolly my favorite plane behind the DC-8 in DL oldskool DL livery. Use to love watching those come into SLC as a kid.

I'm guessing that was an ATA flight? Probably one of biggest operater of L10's. I know when I worked for them we had 20. Those things could haul just about anything anywhere.

Man, there's no better looking airplane than the Tristar. It's what made me fall in love with flying, from the days of the old BWIA. :)

My first airplane ride was in an ATA Tristar. DTW-BGR-LGW. I would have been 4 years old and one of my earliest memories is of landing in BGR for the tech stop and watching the spoilers deploy.

I remember flying one of those as what we used to call the "freedom Bird" when I was stationed in Japan in the Air Force. It used to be a contract flight from the Japan Bases in tokyo up to my base in Misawa and then back across the pond to The US usually stopping at Travis on the west coast. It was a great ride.

Delta's fleet of L10's hit a peak of 56 airframes during the early to mid 1990's. One of the best airplanes of all-time!
