I flew the RJ into St.George, Utah this past week. Wow, what an awesome little airport. And I mean little- for the RJ. I'm just glad the Salt Lake chief pilot was in the right seat doing the landing- he pretty much slammed it on! The airport sits up on a mesa with a bluff on the west side. We had a pretty good westerly crosswind that just kind of burbles over the approach end of the runway. Tiny little taxiways- lucky I didn't take out an edge light in the turns.

Took my 3 1/2 year old son to his first airshow. Hot sun, cheap beer, and people, people, people! Bottle of water: three bucks, can of Beer: TWO- that's American freedom, baby!! The Thunderbirds, as always, stole the show. Although, that Oracle Pitts would sure be fun to take around the patch a time or two! You know, that choreography the line guys and the pilots do getting into the airplanes to start up is nice for the 10% of the crowd in the bleachers at "show center," but for the rest of us pee-ons it's really annoying. Unintelligible music and words blaring from the loudspeakers and my son asking, "where are the fighter jets," every three minutes really made that 25 minutes unenjoyable!

So we're probably moving to Colorado Springs in Aug or Sept. Skywest is opening a crew base of 43 jet crews. I'll go from 193 out of 200+ to 12 out of 43. A nice move up, I say. . . anybody want a nice 4 bedroom house in Utah??

Later all...

I flew a P210 into St George and slammed on the brakes. I saw the end of the runway coming up REALLY quick, man you guys put an RJ on there? I thought that couldn't be done. WOW. Nice!

oh yeah... I almost forgot. I'll have my first O'Hare experience this week. oh, goody. I look forward to getting yelled at by ATC because I don't know the local way things are done! Penalty box for me, I'm sure!

Congratulations Chris

Might as well ask who the first is? Wagstaff?

I think Kellwolfs favorite is Michael Goulian. He is one of mine too, great performer and what an awesome plane.

Man it sounds awesome to have an airshow where you can see the pilots get in the aircraft, takeoff, land, and etc. The only airshow I ever go to is the Ft. Lauderdale Air&Sea show with thousands of people on the beach. It is too hot but still awesome. I hope one day I'll get to go to one of those airshows you guys go to.

SGU = Go Around It is probably the number one go around airport in our system with the low level windshear and turbulance, plus the GA traffic. But hey, it keeps the flying interesting. What was the RJ doing in SGU? Was it the 50 or 70 seater? Things that make you go hmmm...

I saw you fly over my house on final. I was wondering if they were training. SGU is a fun place to land with the wind, this whole week has been good wind across it......

Are the Brasillia classes starting soon?

You flew an RJ into KSGU. Are you crazy? I've flown into that airport several times and it can be a challenge in the afternoon with the crosswind and density alt. I would have liked to see you fly an RJ there. Is that the first time SW has flown an RJ there? I always see emb-120's there.

It's not an uncommon occurence. A few weeks back an RJ was flown down to ferry a bunch of our Execs. When we took delievery of the first 70 seater it did a tour stop there as well. Giddy-up!
