Knoxville Downtown Island

Went up to Knoxville yesterday and had to visit one of my all time favorite airports, especially to fly into. If you ever get a chance, it's worth a stop in.

Found an old DC-3 sitting on the ramp, it was sunset/dusk and just an overall beautiful setting.

Sorry about the quality, these are from the iPhone...left my other camera at home!

I'm actually quite impressed with the quality of the pictures. Really beautifully lit.

Nah, you want to have some fun go a few miles south between downtown island and McGhee Tyson... look for a little 2100' grass strip just off of Alcoa Highway called "SkyRanch". I learned how to fly there... soloed etc. Great little airport right on the water.

I've seen it driving in from TYS and always wanted to land there...unfortunately the 310 and 414 don't really like 2100' runways. 3000' is the insurance's minimum.

Beautiful looking airport though!

Sweet pictures Luke. That is a legendary aircraft and a pretty good sunset to back it up. Thanks a lot for posting man.
