knowledge test endorsement

I cant rememeber, but I always write an expiration into them anyway. I had a few students that just would never go and do it so I started telling them they have one week from being endorsed; otherwise its another 2 hours of ground to re-endorse.
Just skimmed 61-65E to confirm, as I suspected and from what I saw there is no mention of an expiration on this endorsement. That being said, from now on I will be sticking with bdhill and putting an expiration on my knowledge endorsements. A week seems a bit harsh though lol :insane:

you should have seen some of the procrastinator students I have had; in fact one of the ones I dropped was for that very thing, he told me he went and took it, and passed. Then after three times of "forgetting" his written test results he admitted he never took it. As far as I know he is still bagging groceries.

Thank god I've only given one written endorsement. And that was yesterday. And I had him bring me in 3 copies of passed practice tests >85%, and 3 minutes after I gave the endorsement he went and took the test. lol.

If it is from a training course. If it is from a CFI, it is good forever, unless the Instructor puts a limit on it.

Why even bother? Is there a big problem with people off the street using long expired written endorsements to take FAA exams???
The King's will happily give you an endorsement anyway if you write them a check

I have had too many of the student mentioned above, or those that want to put it off till the week before the checkride, or those that are too dumb to be pilots in the first place, etc.......
I make students do the written before anything else. It saves time and headaches in the long run. If they can't show me enough motivation to get the written test done, then they are wasting my time.

I've got a 6 month old written endorsement in my logbook...
I am taking 7 FAA written exams this fall though, am I forgiven for my laziness?

My policy:
1) Student proves he can get 90 or better on a practice exam (it's not THAT tough!) If not, we do more ground on the problem areas.
2) Student schedules exam with CATS
3) I endorse logbook.
So far, no one has chickened out. They realize that the longer they wait after getting a 90 on the practice test, there's more studying they'll need to do...so they just take the test and get done with it.
