Know how many checkrides you've failed

Better yet, make sure the interviewer knows how many check rides you've failed so he doesn't accuse you of lying on the application over the phone.

yeah, just had an interviewer ask me if I was absolutely sure of my answers, because they had people pulled out of class for having the wrong information on their application..

So failing checkrides looks bad on an application? Any chance you won't get hired for having failed a checkride?

I have yet to fail one, but knowing this might add on to the nerves I get beforehand...

Failing too many times, yes. One or two different checkrides one time probably wouldn't hurt you. This is more about failing to disclose your failures only to have them discovered at a later date.

The cutoff for Colgan is 2 failed checkrides due to the scrutiny they've been under in the past. I'm not sure if it's the same at other airlines. Definitely something to keep in mind during flight training.

Did you have an interesting phone conversation also?

Does this include 135 checks or just rides for new ratings. What kinds of records will future employers get?

According to Airlineapps they are looking for any proficiency check, FAA check ride, IOE or line check that you have failed.

kind of sucks there are some DPE out there that will do 30 min orals and they will talk 20 minutes of it. Then you have some who will drill you for 4 hours and you don't want to go flying afterwards. Flight training is a learning stage and shouldn't be counted during interviews, but again I don't make the rules.

I think its healthy to bust a ride or two during training, but then again that could just be me trying to reason with my own shortcomings....

Counting to 0 is easy. ;)
:yeahthat: Have never failed a checkride to this point up through my ATP. CFI initial was a bitch during the oral but the ATP was the hardest as far as the flight portion but haven't failed any of them so far.

4 hour oral would have been nice for my CFI initial. Mine was 10 hours. I failed it at 9 hours and 45 minutes.

OUCH that is horrible I feel for you. I had even heard that the FAA at one point or at least a particular FSDO was not passing anyone on their first try. No reason given but of course that was all just rumor.
