Klamath Falls recommendations?

Probably going to be there for 5-7 days starting next week. Any suggestions for a hotel? I'll be there for work so wifi and room service are preferable but not a deal breaker. Is there any other commercial flights that land before 11pm? I'll be getting a rental car, so is there a flight to somewhere closer than KPDX that I can drive from that will get me into the hotel at a more reasonable time? I'm pretty sure there's some Skywest pilots here and I'd appreciate your input. Also a chance to road trip through Oregon in the spring for a day getting paid for it sounds like fun.

Stay near the falls!

Portland to Klamath Falls by auto is going to take a better part of the day. Look for a flight into Medford and stay there.

Proximity to the airport is important as well, unless the surrounding area is occupied by zombie tweakers, then a short commute is not only acceptable, it becomes mandatory.

Holiday inn or Microtel. Those are the two best hotels in the area. Holiday inn has a sizzler restaurant in the same parking lot. Free full breakfast. Microtel has a bowling alley and bar in the same lot with Walmart a short walk. You could also stay at the Running Y Ranch. The hotel out there is also a holiday inn, but more expensive and it's out of town. The best western is also decent. Personally I prefer the holiday inn. If you are looking for things to do while there then PM. I lived there for a long while. Not much there...

Agreed. Medford is your best option to get there earlier. There are no other flights.

Looking at medford flights then driving. Thanks for the input.

It's been years since I was TDY for AMF there. Best western was good. And the red lion....burn it down for me if its still there.

AMF...what year? So you hung out at ocean air a bit? I worked the line there for a bit.
Oh geez I don't think it was ocean air. It was run down and over priced is all I remember. They are by the terminal and horizon was the only airline in there. And tower made fun of the rainbow Jamaica painted 99 I flew.

Oh that must have been way back when. Probably Klamath Aircraft at the time.

So, I was once flying a 172 on floats from NoCal to Spokane. I was running out of daylight, gas, and ideas. Then I looked down and saw this place. The people were friendly. The room was cheap and they let me use their car to get food over near the highway. Highly recommend http://www.agencylakeresort.net/

A direct klamath for Vegas? I don't ever remember that. I don't even remember md-80s out of there. What year?

Medford direct Vegas. My brother lived in Las Vegas, mom in Grants Pass. He flew that route several times in 2010 - 2012 until my moms death. My brother would buy in advance, round trip was less than $100.

Just checked their web site, Allegiant has flights Medford to LAX too.

I used to fly into a pretty remote part of eastern Oregon in a King Air 200. Put the airplane to bed and then drive to Klamath Falls. I always stayed at the Microtel and did a couple of day trips from there. Crater lake is a good day trip.

I don't remember being thrilled with the food choices. Oregon is nice. Things are pretty remote near the eastern side of the state. There is also some pretty interesting history. The entire valley was stolen from the indigenous people. One of them managed to put up a pretty good fight near Mount Lassen the first recorded use of trench warfare. Which seemed to work really well against the US Cavalry.
