Let me clarify here. I fly for a 135 operator, have been flying 2 of their King Air B100's for just over a year now. This other King Air flys on our certificate, but the owners always hired and paid their own crews. I don't know the experience level for their past crews, since I never met them. I do however, know that they were both rated in the aircraft. Now, the owners want us to manage the aircraft and crews, so my Director of Op's wants me and the other B100 FO to sit in on the 350 when we are needed until a full crew is hired. Well, based on expereince I can tell you that if they are using me and the other FO at no additional cost, that crew member will never be hired. That right there bothers me becasue in essence what we just did was eliminate a pilot job. Also, the airport where the 350 is based is over 2 hours away by car, and we would be expected to drive there and be reimbursed only for tolls and gas. And to answer your question Doug, my time is worth at LEAST $300 a day. If I were to be flying on a day that I would have otherwise had off, I need at least that much to make up for what I would have earned with my computer business.
