King Air 350 Daily Rate..

Does anyone know what the daily rate would be for a 350 FO? My boss is trying to get me to fly as FO in a 350. The owners let their old crew go, and my boss is now managing the aircraft. He hired a captain, and wants me to fly the 350 without extra pay. He is trying to pocket the $65,000 the owners were paying both old pilots. I will not do it without proper compensation, but I don't really know what that is. Truely, since the old crew was making $65,000 each, I think a daily rate of $300 seems fair.

And how much are you worth?

Who would know better than you? If $300 seems right to you, float it and see if you get the gig. On my daily deals I was always told what I was being paid (take it or leave it), never got to try negotiating.

If you can get him to pay you 65K, thats great. How much time do you have? How much turbine/king air? If I were you I would look on skyjobs.net, climb350.com, aviationcareer.com and look what the market is paying for a right seat 350 job.

Am i correct to think the 350 needs an SIC?

I'm not sure, but if it is under part 135 and has a certain amount of seats, then the plane would require a SIC. I think it has 10 total seats, but I could be wrong.

The 350 is above 12500lbs MTOW. I think that means a SIC is required and the Captain needs to be Type Rated.

$65,000 a year based on 75 hours a month works out to over $70.00 an hour. That's real real high for a King Air position. The King Air 90 pilots at my company average around $35-40 per flight hour their first year.

Let me clarify here. I fly for a 135 operator, have been flying 2 of their King Air B100's for just over a year now. This other King Air flys on our certificate, but the owners always hired and paid their own crews. I don't know the experience level for their past crews, since I never met them. I do however, know that they were both rated in the aircraft. Now, the owners want us to manage the aircraft and crews, so my Director of Op's wants me and the other B100 FO to sit in on the 350 when we are needed until a full crew is hired. Well, based on expereince I can tell you that if they are using me and the other FO at no additional cost, that crew member will never be hired. That right there bothers me becasue in essence what we just did was eliminate a pilot job. Also, the airport where the 350 is based is over 2 hours away by car, and we would be expected to drive there and be reimbursed only for tolls and gas. And to answer your question Doug, my time is worth at LEAST $300 a day. If I were to be flying on a day that I would have otherwise had off, I need at least that much to make up for what I would have earned with my computer business.
