Key lime

Just wanted to give a general report on my time at key lime. The rumors are far from true in regards to maintenance practices, training, and qol. Steve, the chief pilot, seems to be concern with both safety and qol for both the piston and turbo prop pilots. The pay isn't anything to write home about but the flying is extremely satisfying and outright fun.

They are currently looking for more piston pilots. Upgrade times, as long as more piston pilots are coming in, are 8 to 12 months.

Again the rumors were wrong. This is a great place to get your Mel time as pic! With the expansion of their 121 fleet its even a place where someone could make it a career and do very well.

So you were in the May 16th class and you write this on June 24? You've obviously been on the line long enough to see all the aspects of the company, right?

Every Keylime pilot I know seems to be pretty happy with the way Keylime is now with the new Chief Pilot. They seem to be a good operator from what I see.

Well I fly six days a week. I talk with all the other piston guys every morning. I have a good feel for the place. Mx is much better than it use to be, the chief pilot is good, and director of ops is also pro line pilot. They do their jobs and do it well.

As far as the violations go it seems simple enough to me to know the rules and follow them. If someone from dispatch tells a pilot they need to do something it's up to that pilot to make the legal safe call. I have no problem telling the boss no but I also know the rules and operate safely.

In short its a LOT better than the rumors on this and other boards made me believe for a while.

Congrats and nice report. I loved every job I've ever had for the first month.
Have you had to say "no" yet?

I was on the DEN ramp yesterday morning and can't believe all the Metro's. Is every metro left at Key Lime? Where do all those things go? Maybe half of them are broke and the other half fly....haha. The feeder fleet at DEN is pretty impressive.

AMF has over 40 metros. They're spread all out all over the place though.

Told them no this morning for the first time. It was a personal thing but they accepted my safety concerns regarding lack of sleep.

Once we all launch out there is usually only two metros left at DEN and a couple at APA. You will see a couple Navajos or maybe a 404 sitting from time to time too because we are so short piston pilots. Today they sent a Metro to do a Navajo run because of another guy and myself being unable to fly. They are hard up for piston pilots.

That being said if you want MEL PIC time and to be home every night Key Lime is not a bad place to be. The MX is really not bad and neither is management.
