Kalitta 727 FO

Got an email from them today. Not sure what to think yet. Sounds like it could be a really cool gig but not sure what it leads to. Anyone know where people intend to go on to? Been thinking about pursuing Avantair really hard if that gives you an idea of where my priorities are. I love freight and all but the fractional world doesn't seem to think to highly of freight drivers. Could be wrong. All I know is I don't want to go to a regional.

Depends on what you flew in freight I bet. Netjets liked guys with good IFR skills. Cargo builds IFR skills better than any other job I know of.

I never heard of fractionals not "liking" freight. Freight guys live by time which, well, when your flying fortune 500 millionaires around is just as if not more important. If you don't mind me asking whats the ballpark on your flight time?

Know if they're still accepting resumes for that 727 class?

Are you flying with them? I emailed my resume when they had the hiring window opened. Haven't heard anything from them at all yet. It looks like they would only hire guys with high turboprop time or with jet time. Correct me it I am am wrong here.

I don't work for them. I saw the application window to late to apply and I'm still looking for something new. what do they consider high turboprop time?

Based on what I read on different websites, though Kalitta posted commercial multi engine instrument, they tend to call on guys with turboprop or jet time. I find some of the airlines hiring requirements misleading when they go below what they wanted to hire. Again, I can be wrong with this.

4500 TT 4200 PIC 2000+ turbine but only about 900 multi (500pic baron and the rest Jetstream32) Currently flying PC12.

The class is currently filled and in session. It still never hurts to submit one if you want and then keep an on the website.

Vaporlock, I think the companies that have a bias against freight dogs do so out of ignorance and stereotyping IMO. Freight pilots have just as much skill as any passenger pilot. You can fly pax after freight. Pilots have left to got to major legacy carriers and corporate pax gigs as well
