LOL!lubing up the old rear end there so when the FAA bones ya for the next year and a half, it wont be so painful
LOL!
seriously though: that's true. I applied Feb of 2008 and am STILL waiting.
You better ALREADY have a job, or apply for other jobs in the meantime.
yikes
Before PUBNATs existed!? :laff:anic:Try August of 2007 for me.. I applied before PUBNATs existed:banghead:

man i feel for ya
Maybe the FAA is waiting to get rid of PUBNATs before they can hire you?
:drool:HOLY CRAP! Where have you been?!
I think the first announcement I applied for was one for Oklahoma.. I doubt I had the required education/work experience combination at that time, but at least I got picked up at some point.. however, I don't remember which PUBNAT it was. Before PUBNATs existed!? :laff:anic:

Way to go!Facility tour on Wednesday! Woo!
Way to go!
I called my new facility just to speak to guys there about working conditions, etc. Since the FAA transferred me from a lvl.6 twr to lvl.12 tracon I was worried about washout rates. But the manager hooked me up with a tour and nearly all the controllers seemed like good guys who would ensure that you'd get a good opportunity to suceed.
Yeah, from the sounds of it, everyone at my facility is ready to see some new faces and get people trained. The ATM told me today it takes about 2 years on average to check out at my lvl 8 up/down facility, but of course that depends on the person being trained as well.
I'm just ready to get to OKC and get this ball rolling.
All this sounds complicated. I guess I have a bit of a wait ahead of me.

Which PUBNAT did you apply for? I didn't realize there were any open at the moment.
Affirmative.
The way to do it is find the thread/post that has your PUBNAT (aka your application group) and follow the updates there.
You'll have to take a test called the ATSAT, so buy the ASA Air Traffic Control book now so you can study for it.
Also, I played around with atc-sim.com and that helped me quite a bit on the test! (Helps you learn to think spatially and command aircraft under pressure)
