for the Marine Corps. Talked to an officer requiter to get the ball rolling on a flight slot. I was told there haven't been any flight slots given out the past 2 classes so next one in OCT will be very competitive. Dang, not exactly what I wanted to hear but oh well. Marines are still my #1 choice.

I guess I can start getting a package together for UPT.

Dude if you want to fly; the Corps isn't where ya need to go. Navy has a heck of a lot more slots. Did you try that avenue?

I guess you are too late for the PLC route?

Gotta agree, I'd go Navy before Marine Corps ( . . . though they're part of the Navy).

The Navy also moves a lot faster than the AF.

Yeah to what Howard said...Besides, the Marines don't go anywhere without the Navy.....If you're gonna be on a carrier, you might as well be in the Navy!!!

You know why we had Marines aboard the Carrier right?

.....Sheep would be too obvious

Yep been reading that. I'm waiting for a call from a Navy officer requiter. I wouldn't mind life on a boat for 6 months but I heard the NAVY likes to put pilots into a non-flying position after a tour.

All of the services do. Part of being an officer first, aviator second.

Thats all dependant on what your goals are. You either are in to fly or make a career out of it. For those that want to make a career out of it, there are certain boxes to check off. Those boxes often are command staff billets, Carrier Air Wing staff slots, non-flying billets on carriers and amphib ships, DoD/OPNAV billets, or being an Admiral's aide. Those that want to fly usually become instructor pilots or find shore based flying positions like Station SAR for helo pilots. Marines pilots also do non-flying billets such as Forward Air Controllers who call in close air support for ground combat units. It's not like the Navy tells you where to go when your tour is up. There is usually a list of open billets to choose from.

I'm thinking of making a career out of it.

Got called by a Navy screener yesterday asking basic questions such as height weight, any record with police, tattoo's, etc.

Did you fail it?:) I am in the same boat, you are copying every idea that I have. I'm just not looking forward to the ASVAB test.

The Corps is the only service that doesnt need jokes about other services to "compensate".

As they say, we are a department of the Navy....the MENS department. (Not a joke, a factual statement)
