Just started Sheffield online dispatch course, kind of worried about the first course: weather theory

Hi everyone! I just started Sheffield and the first course is "weather theory". Some of it is sticking, whereas a lot of it is not right now. I'm spending a LOT of time per module just trying to grasp these concepts and almost to the point where I'm afraid.I might not make my first deadline for End of Course test.

Should I be worried? I know weather is very important in this field but will I be learning things later on that will make all this make sense and everything kind of come together? Any other advice on learning weather theory or advice for this online course in general will be greatly appreciated!

There’s the weather knowledge requirement to pass the course and get a license; then there’s the weather knowledge requirement to safely and efficiently dispatch flights.

I’m not sure how exactly the training is broken down but if you haven’t heard, getting a license is like drinking from a fire hose, just dig deep. Learning the real world weather knowledge to dispatch flights just comes with experience.

Take 5 seconds to worry, then get back to work.

Perhaps mix in some alternative sources of information and instruction. There are many aviation weather theory videos on YouTube. The same information presented in a different way might be helpful.

If the syllabus permits, you might try setting it aside and working on other course material. material. Studying other material may provide the context you need to make sense of weather theory.

Make sure to take breaks. Allow your brain time to rest and process. On more than one occasion when I have been struggling with something, I've found that my learning improves after a break.

Just get tutoring from @Maximilian_Jenius. He remembers all of this.

For a real answer, I haven't been through dispatch school, but second what the previous posters said. Make sure and take breaks, as everything aviation has a ton to learn. Your brain needs breaks. Also, there's theory and there's real-world application. Do what you need to pass now and you'll learn later what really matters. Right, @Maximilian_Jenius?

I'm actually starting to lose it due to not using it. But weather was one of my favorite subjects during IFR.
