Just passed 135 mins

Hey all, I just passed 1200 hours and have all the night, x country and instrument. I currently live in New Mexico but can relocate. I have been instructing for the past year and a half and would really like to get on with a 135 operator next. Only have CSEL, CFI, CFII and really can't afford my multi right now so I know that really limits my options. I would like to stay in the southwest but if need be I will go for the right job. Any help or advice would be great. Thanks everybody!!

Pacific wings airlines is hiring out of Albuquerque. Low pay, long hours, crappy schedule, year contract, poor management...that's basically what I've heard about them. They fly 135 scheduled passenger service in cessna 208s.

I know a couple guys there and a few who are not there anymore and I have been advised by them to stay far away. Of course I've also read the forums and everything appears to be spot on.

Ameriflight is actively hiring. Fill out the online application. Call 1800 800 4JET. Ask for Sheri. She's the director of hiring and a very nice lady.

I would definitely go to alaska but my limited understanding of getting in up there is you pretty much have to knock on doors and introduce face to face. I have applied to martinaire with no reply and a couple other outfits with no replies. How would I go about getting my resume looked at at hageland? Or anywhere?

Less true than it used to be.

Where in NM? I'm out of SAF and I instruct and fly corporate. Pacific Wings is the only 135 operator I know of locally that is an option for somebody lacking the multi. While I'm no fan of them, there's a chance captain pay could atleast be liveable for a year or so . Empire and the 2 Air Ambulance operators that operate PC-12's in the state require 2,000 tt plus to even be considered.

A150K I'm mostly out of saf and abq, work a lot with sierra aircraft. I know someone who just left PW, the pay isn't great but that's not the main problem. From what he and others have told me it's the terrible treatment and fear the management instills in the pilots. They told me everything you read about them is correct, simply not worth it to me.

I applied to Yute a few years ago and the CP called me a few days later. If you can't meet them face to face, try and get them on the phone, that will at least put you a step ahead of the rest of the crowd. Spring is a fairly active hiring season up north.

Ok. I did most of my training with Sierra and instruct in their airplanes every now and then, but for the most part, I work with NM Sport Aviation instructing in the two Remos GX's in addition to my corporate C182 job. I've pretty much heard everything you've heard about PW. I considered them when I first got my Commercial a few years back, but read all the bad stuff just like everyone else and opted to
get my CFI/II instead and teach. It's been a slower road than many have had (I'm only sitting on around 7-800 hours right now), but
I've made some great connections along the way. As a side note, have you considered Survey work? 1200 hours is a bit higher than
many survey companies hire at, but if you can find a company that will take you (and has twins), you could always do a season in something like a 172 or 210, save for the MEL, and get hired back for another season in the twin. I've heard of many people doing that to get multi time and most valued the experience.

Baron operates out of Roswell, but as with any and all FedEx feeders, the 208 mins are 2000TT absolutely non flexible.
2000tt? Bummer. I guess the pay is probably decent though huh?

When I was working at an fbo I talked to an empire captain that had been with empire for 10+ years. All in the 208. I guess QOL must be decent as well.

Depending on the location it very well could be.

All the 208 guys are 'captains'. It's all single pilot in the vans. Crew in the ATRs

If you like living at the outstation it is. If you don't like living in a small city 3 hours away from the nearest metroplex you will hate it.

The 2000 TT is a hard requirement set by FedEx who owns the airplanes.
