That might as well be written in Greek for the average passenger or low time pilot.

I think that was the intent...

"Simply commit the following to memory". Yeah right! I think I'll just print it instead.

Well with this info and my flight simulator I feel confident I can handle any airliner out there when the pilots pass out

"Find the Jeppeson charts. A big notebook of maps and landing approaches for every airport in the world. Locate the radio frequency."

Oh, okay.

2] Approach checklist
1-P.A. cabin call: "Cabin crew 15 minutes to landing."
2-Cabin signs and exit lights: on.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeahhhhh ... that'd be on my list of things to do as a non-pilot or private ...

No doubt. Besides, a novice has no idea when we're 15 minutes out. Heck, 99% of the time, I hardly know when we're 15 minutes from landing and I've got probably 8500 hours and 8 years of airline experience.

My big fear if the captain conks out is what to do with the airplane. I'd hate to shut down the runway for an already dead captain, but I'd certainly hate to have to drag his 250lb body out of the left seat and learn how to use a tiller on the fly.

Somehow I think this has been more than just a theoretical discussion on a particularly long and boring leg... What I wanna know is how the conversation managed to segue into that topic. Or did it take a more deliberate direction, Doug?

Nah, I've had an enjoyable few months with some great captains.

I'm doing a lot of eastern seaboard flying this month and you think about some strange things sometimes!

Like how easy it would be to buzz the White House ala Maverick in Top Gun when you depart from DCA?

Kidding people! Kidding!

Knock, knock. Oh, Mr. Ashcroft would like to see me? Oh, come on, can't he take a joke?

What you should have done is land that plane . . . You don't own that plane, the taxpayers do!

It's an aviation website. What did agent Smith say about inevitability?

Oh no! Don't start the Top Gun quotes again!

"If you screw this up, you'll be flying a cargo plane full of rubber dogsh** out of Hong Kong"

I think that's the quote...
