That would be 1J, as the letters I and O are not allowed in US registrations. Yeah, I'm a nerd like that.

The FAA has no record of it being assigned but other websites have it belonging to Boeing so you're probably right.

No, actually SWA has one airplane registered with the initials of each member of the Board of Directors. Totally useless, but interesting trivia.

You're right. I did find N8301J as a 737 registered to Boeing on the FAA's database.

My best guess, is that there is a Director with the initials IJ but they used 1 in place of I. I seem to remember that OSU has an airplane that ends in 0SU. Similar logic.
 
Huh ... I would have guessed that it was a temoprary Boeing registration. However, Southwest is switching to four-digit ship/fin/nose/skrillex numbers as part of the AirTran integration, and Boeing temporary registrations usually end in a 'B'. (I.e., IDKWTFLOLBBQ)

Because I'm also part of the liberal nerdfest, the planned deliveries of 737-800 to LUVHQ all have 83xx-series registrations (except for the last):
  • 36980 N8301J
  • 36983 N8306H
  • 36985 N8309C
  • 36987 N8307K
  • 36990 N8314L
  • 36992 N8317M
