Had an experience today never had it before. Pilot wanted to see my medical
Obviously not a Pilot said did not have one. He said it was in their SOP. Has
anyone else experienced this

Yup I have been asked for one before. I politely tell them that a dispatcher is not required to have a medical. Usually the FO informs him that is true, or he will call dispatch or refer to the FOM. Were you denied?

Yeah had this happen to me once. Told the guy dispatchers don't have medicals and he was like oh ok then. Welcome aboard. Gotta forgive them sometimes, they're not the sharpest tool in the tube with wings sometimes.

Yes and escorted off the plane and he will tell the jumpseat cordinatir and I also told my boss. Was commuting to my job up in MSP

I'm completely ignorant to how it all works for dispatchers but I didn't even realize you guys could commute until I had one ride in the jumpseat with me one time.

Is it common for dispatchers to commute?

Normally I just politely explain how we are in CASS and only require our FAA ticket, company ID, and passport---if it still seems like a dead end, I drop the issue, and will try and find another ride home.

Ah!!! That all depends if they're trying to protect that extra gas or not. But that's a whole other discussion by itself lol.
We have one moron dispatcher who regularily tosses 45 min in hold to screw us on the ground when theres an alternate. Someday we will get rid of him again. Such a clown.

I did dispatch for a couple years, its not that long of a conversation. Either someone at my company teaches it wrong or the system is easier to trick into working by tossing gas in hold.

Not i only throw into hold if there is a MEL other than that I never throw into hold heck got into arguments. I solve it by saying then throw tha extra into hold and that does trick. do I work at 9e

Tell JV how to do his job please. By the way turn autocorrect backon please :)

Heck crews say it is a FAR that there must be hold fuel only had this issue when we got tha 900's and other than original pinnacle crews want hold

I'm curious what reasons the dispatcher would want to "protect" any extra gas....

Dynamic weather. Give the guy all that fuel in extra and then the weather goes south. You as the dispatcher is thinking well no problem he has all that extra gas I gave him only to find out he burnt it all on the ground before he took off LOL. Extra fuel isn't protected. However don't give the guy hold fuel and nothing left for him to taxi out to the runway.
