It's my start date and I know a few others on here will be in the class also.

Wondering if you guys have heard any thing about roommate pairings or anything else?

I know that there will be 10 of us in the PPL class and we are all guys... No girls in our group (my girlfriend is elated!)

I bought my sheets today for a regular twin bed. All I have to do now is pack, check the oil in my car and get it ready for the cross country drive, and head down south where the folks talk a bit slower

Anyone else have any thoughts?

home much preperation did you do already? I was just curious a little about the process. I know they send you books but how much stuff do you go over before you leave vs when you are there. Thanks for the info.

Well, they sent the books and all about 3 or 4 weeks ago. I have been studying and getting ready to take the private written for a while now. I have been taking the practice tests and consistantly score in the mid 80s so I feel I can pass with no problem. I meant to take the written last week but with my job and all I didn't get around to it so I am just going to take it next week when I get down there. Shouldn't be a problem as the only questions I seem to have a problem with are VOR and ADF related stuff.

havent heard anything either. i was planning on calling this week to find out any addtl info. if i find anything out ill let you know.

I got the call from ATP today. Turns out I will be living with my fiance's sister. I think since I was one of the last to sign up for the class I was one of the two out of us ten in this month's PPL that will be put in other rooms. I am betting the other 8 of you guys are put into two different apartments. Just my guess though.

Don't forget your sheets for a regular twin bed, bring some towells, and a birth cert. or passport... That was pretty much it.

I think it is kinda funny that the apartment I stayed the night in when I took my tour is the same one I will be living in for the next five months.

Can't wait to start and can't wait to get up in the air!

See you guys there, I will be leaving Wed for my drive back east.

10 private pilots??That's awesome, sounds like the ppl program is doing well. I cant imagine 10, I thought 7 was alot! Do you know who your instructors are?

I just found out that there are 3 instructors currently teaching PPLs. John from Texas is one, I talked with him last month about the program and I think I will get along with him really well and I hear he is a blast to fly with. The other instructor I hear about is Nicole who I hear has become really fun to fly with lately it should be a fun time down there!

I am taking off in the morning so this is probably my last post... See you guys down there!

Tim please keep all of us potential ATP students up to date on your experiences. Looking forward to hearing your views on the program. Thanks.

Will do my best... All depends on how much internet I can get down there. Hopefully I can figure out where the hotspot by the pool is?

Anyway this is my last post for now as I start my trip on down in a few minutes.

latah!

Update to the PPL instructors...

Nicole and John are now ACCP instructor and the new instructor are being spun up this week... for next weeks class

damn, I was really looking forward to flying with John, guess I have to wait two months.

I will be there tomorrow... I made as far as 100 miles north of Atlanta tonight so the drive tomorrow should be cake compared to the last two days. Just gotta get an oil change this week!

Minor stuff is delt with by whomever has the contract for the airport you are at. If it is a major problem (but the aircraft is legally flyable) you or someone else will fly it to a major station (CRG or whatever the west coast one is). If the plane truly isn't flyable then I would guess you would work something out with dispatch. Often times you are taking a different aircraft back with you then the one you came in with anyways so you wouldn't even have to deal with the problem.

Sorry to disappoint man..."Waffle" will still be down here at Jax handling career pilots. So you still might fly with him if you stay here after we are done with you. The new point man is Eric, who's been helping John and Nicole. Then there's myself and two former riddle guys that have been helping finish up the June class here the last week. Don't worry, we'll still have a blast. Any questions, feel free to drop a line. Look forward to meetin' everybody on Monday...wheels up at 8am! Later...

Jon

Jon you teaching private pilots now. Who are these riddle students you are talking about?

-Brian

They were actually teaching at ORL FLT Training @ KISM. One is a guy I was in the CFI class with... they got most of their ratings at Riddle. Jason and the other guy is Ben I think.

See you all tomorrow... hope you had a good 4th!
