As opposed to the taxi driver taking the long way to run up his bill?
I'd be very careful using Lyft or über. If your own insurance company finds out your vehicle is being used for commercial privileges, they (depending on your policy) may drop you on the spot/ deny any claims.
On a whim I did. None of the major carriers provide livery coverage on a personal vehicle. During the time between "lyfts" you would not be covered. That's why you check first.
I've been told that most people only tip if the driver goes "above and beyond." So that's what I do. I only use Uber Black, though, so regular Uber could be different.
Just a tip when you ride black?I've been told that most people only tip if the driver goes "above and beyond." So that's what I do. I only use Uber Black, though, so regular Uber could be different.

If you were bored and wanted some more scratch, why wouldn't it make sense? While I still don't think it makes any sense for most airline pilots to do this unless you're on first year FO pay, I have to say I'm a big fan of Lyft. We used it several times last week, and I was really impressed with how professional the drivers were and how affordable the fares are.
