Jobs at FBO at 16

Alright, I am 16 and have begun my flight training. I work at a grocery store but I was thinking about picking up another job over the summer. Would a FBO allow a 16 year old to pump gas into the planes. What could I do aviation related?
 
Nope, can't pump fuel, or drive, or work with machinery (airplanes) until you are 18. Basically have to be 18 to work on the line.


Maybe washing airplanes, but thats about it. Or you could work at the desk.

At a smaller local field I'm sure he could If I could. But, we don't operate a Tug or full service fuel truck. Not being 18 is what is holding me back from moving to a larger FBO now though....
 
hmmmm. even auto gas attendants have to be 18 in Maine. I would assume that would also be the case with a assisted-serve attendant at an airport. Maybe it varies state to state.
 
I would try and find somebody that you could wash planes for... At least something where you could get some free flight time...
 
I worked at a full service FBO when I was 16. Their insurance only required a drivers license, but I am sure it varies from FBO to FBO. I was the CSR, Lineman, and Fueler at a busy airport. We worked alone because the old manager was too cheap to pay two people to work at once. It was pretty tough work, but well worth it. The connections I made in those two years of working the line are invaluable.

I don't think that you can get a job at a FBO when your 16. I had to wait till I was 18 years old till I could get a job as a ground service agent for an airline. I guess it might be different for a FBO, try and find out.

I believe it does vary state by state. Do you know any way to check this?
