LOS ANGELES, Oct. 4, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Private jet operator JetSuite has been purchased by JetBlue founder and airline innovator David Neeleman and Acadia Woods Partners LLC.
In conjunction with the acquisition, JetSuite will take delivery of an additional five brand-new Embraer Phenom 100 aircraft. With an additional two leased Phenoms, JetSuite clients will now have access to twelve of the newest aircraft in the industry.
"After seven months of charter operations, we are happy to report that our clients love our crews, our service, our value and our Phenoms. We are doubling the fleet to satisfy our ever-growing customer base," said Alex Wilcox, CEO of JetSuite. In addition to reinforcing its operations across the Western US, the new aircraft will support JetSuite's expansion into Texas.
"The private jet market has been broken for some time, loaded with unnecessary expense, poor asset utilization and low return on capital, despite the exorbitant costs to its users," said David Neeleman. I just looked at thier website and I see prices advertised. I thought you coulden't do that if your were a 135 operator?

They're just sample quotes to show comparison. We had the same type thing on our website when I flew charter.
The only thing you can't post is a schedule.

Seems to me to all companies have a starting, middle and an ending point. Jetsuite is in the begining.
All company employees "drink the cool-aid". Because every employee has the wish and desire to see their company succeed. Not all will see success.
I remember the bashing when Jetblue started. "They wont last","This shouldn't last","Lots of Kool-Aid drinking at Jetblue" etc, etc, etc....
Once again we will see how this operation will do with time, maybe they will be gone, but then they might one day be the next NetJet competitor. Only time and smart tactics will tell.
Reading some of the things they offer, I think they might give "Marquis Jet" a run for their money.

You realize Marquis is a sub brand of NetJets, Right?

All things aside.....they are a charter operation and not a fractional, so not really a fair comparison/competitor. They are more in line with Blue Star and/or Sentient.
 
Absolutly NJA-CAPT, I do know the diff. and as I see, I know you also remember NJA started as a charter operation in the mid 60's
There is no doubt that there will be big money thrown into this operation. Sucess will only be measured by the tactical thinking of management, as in the same tactical thinking NJA management has done and will do.

Not all company employees drink the kooaid....just sayin'. Some prefer beer :beer:

JS will either fail or succeed. I never wish failure on anyone. I hope they do well, but they will face the same challenges of any new startup operator, with the added challenge of airline management minds attempting to grow something that is definitely not an airline. It's a wild experiment.

There was an old stat that 50 out of 55 fractional start ups have failed.
UAL threw big money to start Avolar too. There was a LOT of KoolAid about Avolar. I think JS has already outlasted Avolar.

Gotta go with Tld: Airline models do not work with corp pax. Heck, airline models don't even work for airlines anymore. (Bazinga).

After closing down its website and shutting down its phones in September, the OurPlane fractional ownership company that once provided a nationwide fleet of Cirrus SR22 airplanes to its customers has declared bankruptcy.

The same owner owns Exclusive Jetz using the Embraer Phenom 100. If he is running it with the same business model described in the article, I would be concerned.
 
I don't know too much about JS, but as for every other company out there with a giant competitor out there with pretty much unlimited funding (NJ), how do they differ from NJ ? What's their added value ? Why would I choose them over NJ that has a global presence and a proven model ? How am I sure that in the crappiest economy ever since the invention of bizjets will I get enough customers to pay for those nice BMW leather interiors...
Everyone laughed at Easyjet in the beginning... 177 planes later and no crash, no one is laughing anymore. They identified a niche and filled it well.

Easyjet is a really good company, I like it a lot, can you beat a low cost (a real low cost, not fake like Ryan) that flies to the main airports?? The service is really good and they have espresso!!!

Easyjet is only a lowcost if you plan waaaaay ahead. If not, they can even be more expensive than AF. That's the cost of flying out of main airports.
And as an AF Platinum member, I get a ton of extra service that really make up for the slightly more expensive ticket. And now that I'm based in Bogota I REALLY enjoy my Platinum status, something that Easy can't compete with.
Ryanair has a different approach. Their contract is an absolute shame, and flying with them is just a signoff to even more abuse to the crews.

I use to fly on easy jet MXP-CDG a lot, if you book the ticket 5-6 days before the round trip will cost you less then 100 Euros, Easy jet had 5 flights daily, while AF and LH Italy only had 2 (a total of 4 each but over two airports).

I did about 5 flights with AF this year, RIO-CDG-MXP, with a 4 hours stop in CDG, 4 times my bags never got to MXP, so the bags of all other peoples leaving from RIO. Flew last time two weeks ago, airplane was 4 hours late, when I got to CDG customs were on strike, took me 3 hours to leave the airport (lost the MXP flight). maybe I'm just not lucky with AF and CDG.
 
AF and CDG have nothing in common... Luggage handling is done by subcontractors of ADP (Aeroport de Paris). I feel your pain though...

I know, it's not fair to blame it to the airlines, when I got to MXP they gave me a nice AF package though, with toiletries (Occitane products!!!!) and a t-shirt. Got my bag in two days, I usually only travel with the carry on, but I bring all sort of stuff from Brazil for my parents and friends in the cked bag......
