Stacie and I enjoyed meeting you and Winnie in Vegas and wish ya'll the best in your new promotion. Will you be staying on the EMB or future plans for a jet? I'm proud of ya bro for your accomplishment.

I passed my final checkride last night (early this morning) and am now a Captain. 4 1/2 years after joining Jetcareers while researching the possibility of an airline career.

Way to go!

Congratz. You can start exercising your Capts authority by educating the UA gate agents in LAS on how jumpseating works. I got denied on a LAS-PSP earlier today today cause the guy didn't know how to work the computer. Crew stayed on the plane so no way to ask them for help. I'm gonna try again in an hour.

Track me down if you get any PSP layovers.

LOL Have I got a story for you. While on a LAS turn going back to PSP, we had a SKYW jumpseater. The gate agent refuses to let him on. I happend to go upstairs and hit up the bathroom. The jumpseater happens to catch me and says hey they wont let me on. I ask why, he says theyre weight restricted. I approach the gate agent and he says he has bags and people that need to get on first. After all the people and bags get on, I still have a 3 seats and weight to spare. I tell the agent to let him on. He comes back in 5 minutes and says we have a flight inbound from XYZ and there is 3 people and their bags that we're gonna try and get on. I ask him where the plane is? He says it is landing in 10 minutes.
After only one person shows up he still refuses to let the jumpseater on, at which point, I tell him you either get this guy on the plane or we're not leaving. Jumpseater got on.

Congrats Dale.

"The gate agent refuses to let him on"

Well, I don't know. Maybe it's the same guy. Short, hispanic, gotee?

In any case, I get the feeling I'm being blown off by my union jumpseat guy. I'll give it a few more days, then I'll volunteer to be the new guy on the jumpseat committe and follow up myself with the SAPA rep. Not expecting much as Tony Williams is a SAPA guy and I don't expect he likes me much. But it's worth a try....

Actually our jumpseat guy(who I can put you in touch with directly) is better than any other person I've seen. I mean this guy, talk about going above and beyond his job. Always professional, always gets back to you. And he doesnt get a dime for doing all this extra work. PM me and I'll put you in touch with him. We had a problem with SLC ops not letting jumpseaters on becuase "they" determined it was weight restricted. They denied most jumpseaters without even consulting the PIC. Michael got on it right away and about 95% of the problem has been fixed. He just won't be bullied by anyone, union or not. He's been with the company a long time, and is based outta SBA. Bids reserve and stays home. Lucky duck.
