Probably actual paint. I'd say the SWA special liveries are more intricate and they're painted:Is it a wrap like those advertisement sets for cars or actual paint?
Probably actual paint. I'd say the SWA special liveries are more intricate and they're painted:
I remember back when, either Eastern or American calculated their annual savings for having (mostly) bright aluminum finishes on the fuselage, instead of flying X pounds of paint around the US for a year, times the number of airframes in the fleet. The annual savings were quite significant!
Late war B-17's switched to bare aluminum from olive drab because it saved 17-20lbs in just paint.
Plus, olive drab wasn't very effective camo against German clouds.
Maybe the OD was designed for those who crashed - wasn't the lifespan of a bomber something like 5 missions for a while?
The OD was more to camoflauge from aerial observation while parked on the airfield or attacks from above.
Both are awesomeANA did it much better.

Too bad they wasted that paint job on an RJ![]()
I don't get it. Glad they are spending money on paintjobs instead of fixing things or getting pilots a market rate contract.
