JetBlue’s Future

USAA is a fantastic insurance company....

....and a relatively decent bank....

...and a right awful, horrible, mortgage company.
No complaints about insurance.

Don’t really use their banking services I still keep some money in checking so that I can ATM fee rebates for foreign exchange when I use cash overseas on trips

Their mortgage services suck. Made the mistake going with USAA for our mortgage instead of Navy Federal. The first thing USAA did was repackage our mortgage with everyone else’s and sold it to some other entity that we now have to deal with that has crappy customer service.

The repackaging/selling the mortgage is pretty common.

Just dealing with them to GET the mortgage was a horrible process.

USAA is just another insurance company. Nothing special or unique anymore. Especially nowdays, where if someone knew someone somewhere in their far extended family who was in the military, they qualify for membership. When I joined very long ago, it was military officers only, and seemed to provide much better service and products.

Yeah we used them for our first home, and it was exactly as you describe, back in 2014. Current home we went with a local branch of a regional lender, and so far there has been no sell off to anyone else, in the 6+ years we've been paying for the house. I see our broker at school pickup occasionally.
