Thanks for posting! Has anybody seen the stats of the latest new hire classes? I'm curious if there are any non military getting on with under 4k TT? I'm hoping I have a shot since I'm currently on the A320. Good luck to all that apply!

For anyone curious, I applied in a 2014 window and got called ~5 weeks later. I was strictly a line pilot with nothing on my resume. No volunteer work, no union work (I've done it, but didn't have it on there), no internal recs, not a check airman, standard CRJ pilot with 8500 TT, 3000+ TPIC, etc. Basically the vanilla white dude line pilot.

A friend of mine was hired about 6 mos ago. He said in his class he had many RJ FOs with no TPIC. I believe they had gone to job fairs, however. Another friend of mine was hired 2 years ago without going to a job fair and was a 5 yr FO with 0 TPIC. And they all were vanilla white dudes with nothing else special on their resumes. ;). So, there's always a chance, even with 0 TPIC.

My Fourth time applying. 4,830 tt, 2030 turbine PIC, two associates, and completing bachelor's by october, do you think that's enough to get an invite from JB?. Thanks.

You must be a Black dude...

Last I heard (a few months ago) 4000hrs TT was the lowest they'd take off the stack to consider. (For just regular candidates)

So yeah I think you should be in the running along with the other thousand guys. Remember we're in the day and age of the job fair. Try to get to one, I've been told by recruiters that it helps tremendously.

I think you're on the right track and competitive, it's just a numbers game at this point.

Would it be foolish to begin applying at Jet Blue and LCCs now even though I just started in 121 and don't have nearly the competitive mins?

Not at all.

I think "competitive mins" is a term those on the outside looking in use (I realize some companies publish this as well). However there are many examples, myself included, that were hired well below "competitive mins."

Good luck everyone. Go to a career fair. Meet a recruiter in person. Know things about the company, such as our core values.

If you sit back and wait for the call, you may be in for a long wait.

You can do all that and more and still not get the call. At one point jetBlue was at the top of my list of places I wanted to work. 2 job fairs, including one where I was clearly the only person in Bonny's briefing that read Blue Streak, 2 strong internal recommendations, also one very strong recommendation from a friend of Bonny. My TT was greater than a good number of people getting hired and I do a good bit of charitable work.

I also know a few guys who got hired by just putting in a app, so my point is I have came to the conclusion that who knows what jetBlue is looking for.

I think that can be said for most airlines. I know guys who were forced to downgrade, guys who busted DC airspace etc who are all at majors while guys with really exemplary records are sidelined.

That's all true, but I would bet that those who hustle are called more often than those who do not.

Is JetBlue really getting that much interest when all the majors are hiring right now?

Yes, I believe they usually get about 3-5k apps during their 10-14 day app window. Jetblue is the only place I'd leave my current mainline gig for if that tells you anything. This will be my 4th app window but I've never been successful with trying to bid a job fair day off and I'm not the type to lie about a sick call so I'll just have to hope for a little luck.
